I basically agree with the sentiment of the more the merrier.  However, I can also understand the guys who hung in there during lean years wanting to have a little recognition of that fact.

I don't think our fans are entitled to anything...especially recognition for only having 5,000 people show up to countless games over the past ten years.

I'm glad you were there cheering the team on, Norm.  But to think you deserve something for that is silly.  You paid to watch basketball games...and you watched basketball games.  Anything else is gravy.

Don't think I used the word "entitled," like, anywhere.  Nor did I say I deserved anything.  Pretty sure.  Could go back and check, I guess.  What I think I said was that I could understand the sentiment of folks who are saying that they might be a little resentful of the bandwagon jumpers.

Are you saying you cannot understand that sentiment?

If so, I think you'd be among the few.

The University's own advertising campaign plays on this very sentiment:  "Be there from the start."

So you compare yourself with soldiers who have been in combat and "want recognition" in the same sense as those soldiers and you think I'm being unreasonable in saying your desire for said recognition is similar to the feeling of being "entitled" and "deserving."

Got it.

"Now, certainly, the Army wants people to serve and doesn't want to turn away the people who haven't been deployed overseas.  But if you've been through a war, you get a combat patch.

Those of us who've been around for awhile?  Who stuck around even when this team could barely reach double figures in wins?  Who suffered through all the recruiting mishaps and blown leads and roster turnover and coaching turnover?  Yeah, I kinda feel like we've been through a war."

So, you didn't compare yourself with veterans of wars?

Why not a tee for the Devaney Dungeon dwellers???

Actually I've been thinking about a red shirt with a white state outline and the star for Lincoln along with TBD text....a going to the game shirt.

That would be a great way to represent Nebrasketball's inaugural ballgame in PBA.

How is this for a red shirt idea...

Husker Hoops Central logo on the left breast

"Been here from the beginning"     in larger print on the front....followed by

"And long before"       on the back.

If you want to get more complex graphically...put in small print random printing of names and #s of former greats....i.e. Aleks Maric 21     Chuck Jura 54      Andre Smith 40    Venson Hamilton 4   Jerry Fort   Dave Hoppen   Eric(k)......oh well, I am sure you get the point!

This thread is like the girl who gets a boob job and then can't believe how guys want to stare at her chest.

(OK, I have no idea how the analogy fits but it's certainly a better mental image than soccer, meteors or bands that give a shit.)

I'm sorry, I'm not understanding your analogy.  Perhaps some visuals aids would be helpful.

I'm notoriously bad at finding photos to post.  Never can locate one with a .jpg ending.  But it's funny about this because my wife was talking with some other lady just last night who admitted she'd had a boob job, apparently ALWAYS wears low-cut blouses (flaunts it, my wife says), and was complaining about guys looking at her chest.  Well, duh.  Wasn't that the point of getting the implants?  So people would admire them?

Okay,

After very careful consideration, and after spending many hours doing very careful research into the matter at hand I believe I've come up with what I hope to be an adequate response to what many believe is necessary to further discussion in the thread.

Silverbacked1, this one's for you bud...

Just NO RED SWEATER VESTS

Or penny loafers.  Or sipping Appletini's in the concourse while watching the game (you're attending) on the monitors for the whole second half.

Yes I forgot all those things.  And no cell phone calls during the game, unless it is to give updates to somebody who can't be there.

Work is blocking this so will need to see it at home later today.

Yeah at least I have something to look forward to, that is besides my beautiful wife. ^_^

The "band wagon" fans can be annoying to a degree, but at the same time, the more, the better. This is just me talking, but sometimes when those fans that come for only the "big" games come up and sit by me it can be a bit annoying at first....but then once the game starts and the crowd is at 13,000+ and the Devaney is rocking I don't even think about those fans.  I just think "Man, this is a great atmosphere."

Plus, what a great recruiting tool for Miles to be able to say "We have sold over 13,000 season tickets so far, and we finished 10th in the Big 10.  Can you imagine the atmosphere as we turn this thing around?"

Thank you that is what I have been trying to say.
