Not sure what to think of this.  Miles originally said he didn't want to go the JUCO & Foreign route.  But we're going the JuCo & foreign route.  Seems to have more upside than Serge, so in that sense I'd see it as an upgrade.

I was going to say there is no way that dude in the video is 180 lbs at 6'9.  That would be twig like skinny with no muscle on the body whatsoever.

He was "down" on both. Said foreign players were a big gamble.

But he's also said he'd take them if there was a player that could help the program and he might have to do a little more of that than he'd like the first class or two.  Would ultimately like it to be the exception rather than the rule.

Didn't we try this international route already with Doc and it failed miserable!!!  This kid only averaged like 7 points a game.  I'd rather pass and look for better players in 2014 & 2015 classes.

Have some faith in the coaching staff if they think this kid is worthy of an offer they obviously see something in him.

I see where you are coming from and I don't know that I have completely convinced myself that I don't agree with you. But I do think this kid has alot of upside considering he has only played basketball for 2 years (I think I read that earlier on in the thread). He is fairly athletic considering that, along with the fact that he hasn't seen a college weight room or conditioning program yet. Plus, the weight that he needs to gain is not nearly as severe as other foriegn post players currently on the roster.

The good thing about this could be that if they were able to sign Herbert, then Nebraska could focus all of thier efforts on landing a stud Center in the 2014 class (ie Myles Turner who could very easily be 6'11", 250 lbs by the time he gets on a college basketball court). That could allow Nebraska more flexibility to play guys like Pitchford and Herbert at the 4-Spot. A rotation at the 4-Spot that includes Pitchford (6'10"), Herbert (6'10"), Smith (6'8"), and Rivers (6'7") wouldn't be too bad if they had Turner (6'11") and maybe even Vucetic (7'1")(IF he is able to make HUGE gains in the weight room and weight gaining areas of his development) to play in the 5-Spot. Plus, you could slide Pitchford and/or Herbert over to play the 5-Spot if you wanted to get a group of more skilled and athletic guys on the court to get up and down the floor.

Agree.  Tummala was pretty under the radar when Nebraska offered him, but then (as Norm predicted) his recruiting blew up.  I think Miles and his staff have an eye for talent, so if they want Herbert, then I will trust them, until they give me a reason not to.
