  1. A 21 year old Freshman that can score the basketball. I'm struggling to see the downside.
  2. Wingett is an interesting prospect. I like him better than the kid from Springfied, Missouri that we've shown interest in but Rez kids generally don't do well off the Rez esp at major universities. It might be a huge risk for Miles to take him as a "plan A". As far as PG's go, I'm surprised Noah Vedral from Bishop Neumann doesn't get much mention. I know he's football prospect but he is one hell of a PG. That kid could score 30 a game (in an efficient manner) but runs the show for his team flawlessly & scores when needed. He could play any class & play just as effective/efficient.
  3. Assistant coaches move on. Outside of foreign recruiting I don't see this as a major loss. Losing Smith last year was a major loss but that was to be a D-1 head coach so its understandable. We needed a change in the coaching staff this year b/c we had so many deficiencies offensively. Harriman leaving is somewhat of a surprise only b/c of the health issues with his son & the support he's gotten here. He got more $ & a better title, so I don't see this as a sky is falling scenario. I see bench coaching as a major need, hopefully we can fill his spot with a solid mind on the bench. I wouldn't be sad to see Molinardi moving on after next year. The only thing I'd be worried about is McVeigh making it here. Hopefully this doesn't effect his status. We might lose our solid footing with Pinder though.
  4. It was a forgone conclusion that TP5 would leave. Its probably the wisest decision for him if he wants to make a living playing basketball. I would have loved to have him back but knowing we have AWIII, I'm not worried. We might actually be better with a scoring combo of AWIII & Shavon rather than putting TP5 in the mix as well. TP5 has the tendancy to go rogue & try to do to much. If he's on we win but if he has an off night we waste possessions with him forcing things & he starts doing dumb stuff out of frustration. He's a guy isn't good in a complementary role. The more you put the puzzle pieces together with Walt, the more I start to see what a distraction he was on the team. He half assed the entire year & refused to play the role we needed him to fill in order to win. He basically packed in the season & took his ball & went home. With our lack of size we needed him to use his size & athletic ability being a force inside. He couldn't/wouldn't do it & we suffered. There were numerous reports from people outside the program that said we looked like a team "that didn't like each other". Obviously something happened to the "US Always" mentality that we fed on & won with in '13-'14. I think our best 3 players all started butting heads with one another & we turned into a mess. I think we are going to be better with the roster turnover. We need a graduate transfer who can come in & start immediately at the 4 or 5 spot. We also need another ready to go 4 or 5 who can be in the rotation. I wouldn't be surprised if we look at adding a quality JUCO PG as Benny was a liability this year & Watson may or may not be ready to be the starter. I think Watson will be very good but next year can't be a rebuilding year.
  5. Moronic post...The arena is full, interest in basketball has never been higher & he just signed one of the top 3 classes in Nebrasketball history. Yes, we need to be better next year to keep the momentum going. But get real, all schools have down years. Look at Michigan this year. Is Belien getting fired..no. Look at Creighton, is McDermott going anywhere, no..
  6. Thought I had heard that this kid has a brother that plays (or played) at Syracuse (at least according to my sister in law who teaches at Boys Town).
  7. Well that jersey will just go in the old 'bin'. peace & love, peace & love
  8. The UT athletic dept is a dumpster fire. There's a reason why they are burning thru coaches like a pyro burns thru matches. No way Miles would leave for UT. You don't poach a HC from another D-1 university just to leave to go to another program this late in the game. He's building something here, he isn't going to leave for an unstable situation. Esp when the entire UT fanbase wants Pearl back (& that's after UT had a deep NCAA run)
  9. I for one wouldn't be shocked if Covington followed him here. Nebraska did have contact with him during his Sr Year of HS (along with many other Big10 teams).
  10. No surprise ISU is on the final list esp considering his parents live in Iowa. But when it comes to transfers what does ISU have that we don't? ISU is getting great players via the transfer route ever since Hoiberg took over. I think we need to follow that formula esp considering 2 of our best players are transfers. We should continue to go after these transfers with high upside that are looking for new homes. Think this is the route we need to go in order to keep the talent flowing year after year with guys ready to play & who know the system.
  11. Nu plays the early game. Creighton follows immediately after. Put your Vacation requests in now.
  12. I have no complaints on the draw. Baylor has been jekel & hyde this year. Sure San Antonio is only 2 hrs from Waco, but there's a lot of Husker alumni in Texas. Hope they turn out in full force to offset the home court advantage for Baylor. The 2 big guys will make it difficult for us to do what we like (drive to the bucket) but hopefully we can get them in foul trouble & hit some jumpers against that zone. Glad to be in & not in the play in game. All the other 6 & 7 seeds have their disadvantages, but for us to make a sweet 16 run this draw is perfect as we could have a very familiar opponent in round 2 (one that we have something to prove against).
  13. Since the difference between those last 8 teams is really close, I fully expect Dayton to get a bye. Its too much of a competitive advantage for Dayton to be playing on their home floor. Let's look at it this way, would we rather play Dayton at their home or play someone else in the play in round. I think almost every team in this situation would say they would rather play someone else. But I'm one that thinks Dayton actually deserves NOT to be in the play in game. In this case I think the one's finishing the season the best deserve the bye & the ones limping in should be in the play in round. (SMU, Iowa, KState, Ariz St, Xavier) would be the one's I'd put in the play in game. Wish Crieghton would have beaten Providence b/c they would have been another candidate for that last 4 in spot.
  14. I really don't see us in that play in game. Again if we're seeded below Iowa its a travesty. In no way do I see us as a team that would be left out under the old traditional 64 team format. I believe we are a 10 seed. I'd like to avoid UCLA, they are better than a 6 seed. I'll be happy to play whoever they put in front of us, but no way do I see us being in that play in round. I think one of those teams that is limping to the finish should be dropped down to that line. (SMU, Iowa, Arizona St, or Kstate).
  15. There's no guarantee the "play in" games will be 11 & 12 seeds is there? Isn't the "play in" seeding determined when they actually seed the entire field & where the last "at larges" end up in the overall seeding (including the conference champions). I think the projected brackets just arbitrarialy use 11 & 12 seeds. The last at larges could be any seed. It just depends on how many of those "mid major" champions are seeded higher than the last at larges overall. Right??
  16. In all honesty, I think Dayton deserves to be bumped up over that 'last 4 in' line. There's other teams the "bracketoligists" have as byes that need to be moved out of the field or down (Iowa, KState, SMU, Arizona St).
  17. Terran does need to work on his composure. It got him in trouble at TT (where he clocked a guy during a game) & he's shown signs of frustration this year for us. During the OSU run today he really showed signs of having a full mental breakdown. He drove his shoulder into a OSU guy during a fast break (which could have easily been an intentional foul) & he almost broke out into tears late in the 2nd half. Opponents will notice this & they'll do everything to get in his head. He's our best player & one of our leaders (with Shavon), so he'll need to work thru this to take his game & us to the next level. From what I can tell he's a really good kid, so I hope this doesn't become something that snowballs or becomes a larger issue in his career (Miles did compare him to Sprewell though). The dumb fouls are just one of those signs of lack of composure. He's young & he wants to be great, so my money is on Terran to continue to grow & learn to put on his "alligator skin" so things don't get to him.
  18. NC State is so far on the fringe, they would need to win the ACC tourney. Sweat if you are Iowa, KState, SMU or Ariz St.
  19. There are a few teams that are "in" which I think should be sweating way more than us. Iowa, SMU, KState, Ariz St are pretty good examples. I think Palm is right on with us as a 10 seed. Really I think Dayton should be moved up out of the "last 4" as well. They are deserving & it eliminates the unfair competitive advantage Dayton would have at home. Dayton's day's as the 1st 4 site are numbered b/c of this. They may still hold the 2 16 seed games but a neutral location needs to be chosen in the future.
  20. If either SMU & Iowa are in & seeded above us, I'm pissed. If you use the blind formula, both of them come up short when compared head to head against us. Only reason they are getting so much respect is b/c they were ranked. Wisconsin just showed what a power house & how well they are playing. Those guys are surely a ONE seed if they finish out winning the conference tourney. We beat them during the time period where they were playing best. I think the members of the committee watch enough big time basketball that they'll put us in & seed us appropriately. There is little difference between us & Ohio St (I actually think we are better but we didn't close it out today). We're much better than Iowa there is NO WAY they should be seeded above us. If we're in one of the play in games, Iowa is in the NIT. Nobody has that scenario. But Iowa fans should be sweating. I still think we're going to be a 10 or 11 seed & in the round of 64.
  21. The seedings of the 10 thru 12 at larges is all a crap shoot. I really don't see us being in a play in game over someone like Iowa who has a lower RPI, lower strength of schedule & who's lost 6 of their last 7. If anyone should be in a play in game from the Big10 its Iowa. Really he's just moving Providence off the last 4 in line up to the last 4 byes line (b/c they won & we lost). Really I'm looking at his 10 seeds & see lots of teams that could get moved down (SMU, Iowa & Arizona St) could all get moved down. I just don't see how a team that has lost only 3 games in their last 15, finished FOURTH (by themselves) in a difficult 12 team league could get moved all the way down to not even making the tourney in the "old" 64 team format. Iowa & SMU have done plenty to play their ways out of the tourney in itself. We've done everything a team could do to play their way in. Anyone who watched today's game knows we aren't "limping" our way in. On a side note I don't really see how the committee will handle Dayton. Will they be able to put them in a "play in" game at home? I could see the committee move them up to the final 64 & dropping a team down to the play in b/c it really wouldn't be fair to have Dayton play a home game.
  22. Listen, we lost our edge once we got up 18. We let Ross get hot & OSU strung together back to back possessions with baskets. To compound that we forgot how to inbounds the ball. Not ONE screen was set to spring someone open on the press. LOTS of fouls were called when OSU was aggressive going to the basket. We didn't attempt to mimic that approach & once the game got within 3 possessions b/c of our ineptness in inbounding the ball, we weren't aggressive to the rim. We had a shot to really put a plug in the leaking dike when we had an easy alley ooop dunk that for some reason Pitch decided he wanted to go with the showtime reverse dunk. I'm all for playing loose but is that really the time to try something you haven't done all year? OSU took advantage of that boneheaded blunder & pushed the ball back up court. 4 point swing when I think that would have put us up 7 or 8. We lost the game. The officiating was maddening. They kept OSU in it & they let a lot of crap go on which put us in a panic. But we should have been able to overcome this. It was a good learning experience with a young team. This game might "light the fire" which we might have lost a little. I'm looking forward to see how they react in the "real" tournament. We have a good team. This might help put us in a seeding that we can make a little run out of. It would have taken a minor miracle to make a run out of the 8 or 9 seed (which we were trending towards with a win today).
  23. I actually don't think the loss is devastating. Really disappointing to be up 18 in the 2nd half & completely collapse, but not devastating. I thought a win today would pretty much lock us in as an 8 or 9 seed. Being an 8 or 9 you'd be likely facing another "hot" team or a team that once was good that fell on hardtimes. Those games are toss ups, then if you win you're staring at the #1 next game. This pretty much locks us in as an 10 but more likely an 11. Win against the 6 seed & you're looking at a 2nd round matchup against a #3 (but we all know how often 14 seeds beat 3's so it could even be a 14). I love us at an 11 seed to make a run in the tournament. This game might have been a good wake up call. Unless the "big goal" was winning the conference tourney I don't see today's loss as hurting us to much. Seeding wise it might set us up better (as long as we don't have to play that extra game Tuesday in Dayton). But even if so, one of those play in teams has been making a run every year. But I really don't see us as one of the "last 4 in". We've shown we belong in the tournament. Those last 4 are the "iffy" ones. Iowa should slide down to that level before us (if they are in at all).
