I believe Sai said he was only going to take 1 more visit. So it sounds like it will be Neb or Georgia. I suppose he could go to AZ st on his own dime if he is visiting home in AZ, but I would say it is us or Georgia. I feel good about beating out Georgia because I think Sai is too smart of a kid to fall for the $EC.

Sure, but if he grew up down the street from ASU and has been in Salt Lake the past year, it's not like he needs to take an official to know what he needs to know about those programs.  I would caution ruling out either of those two schools just because he's not taking officials to either one.

If he was set on staying on the west coast, I doubt he would be taking visits to Nebraska and Georgia. B1G and SEC are better basketball conferences than the MW and PAC12. I think Sai wants to play in the best conference. We are in the best conference of the 4, and we have the advantage of playing against his former team.

Big Ten is clearly the best of those four, but the SEC really isn't that much better than the other two.  Sai's a smart kid.  He's going to consider all his options, regardless of which coast it is or isn't on.  I really don't see seeking revenge as a huge motivator in his decision.  While he may be basketball first, that doesn't mean he's basketball only.

Sai Tummala's JUCO coach is quoted as follows: "Phillips . . . noted that 'it is going to be hard for him [sai] to say no to ASU because he basically grew up right down the street from that school.'"

I'm not gonna put any stock into what his coaches say. Another one of his coaches released a top 5 by mistake that did not include Nebraska.

Sai clearly has an interest in playing in the B1G.

I'm not so sure the SEC is better than the MW and PCA12.  Equal, okay.  But not better.

He was looking at Brown and Penn and he's taking a trip to Georgia after Nebraska.  Arizona St is probably in the mix.

It's safe to say that conference affiliation is not near the top of his list of school criteria.

Rumor has it that all current players will stay, that Sai Tummala is priority numer one, with Mikael Herbert as the first alternate, followed by one of the many available transfers. Don't know if the rumor is any good, but I do know that Vooch looked surprisingly brawny at the Spring Game--he seems to have spent a great deal of time and effort in the weight room!

I don't think he would have come here for a visit if he didn't have interest in playing in the B1G ... since that's where we play.

Dimes did a better job of making my point

Well, your point seemed to be in response to Tim Smiles who said that Sai clearly had an interest in playing in the B1G.  Your post in response seemed to suggest that you weren't convinced he'd be interested in playing in the B1G.  And MY point was that he wouldn't have visited a B1G school if he didn't want to play in this conference.

Now, Dimes is saying that conference affiliation doesn't seem to be a priority to Sai and I would say, true, nor does it seem to be an obstacle.  In other words, he's not turned off by the idea of playing in the B1G and, if he has an interest in playing for us, he necessarily would have an interest in playing in the B1G since that's our conference.

I think Vooch ends up a very solid player for UNL.

I agree, need to give him some time though.

And yes he should have redshirted last year, but that is over so we can't really do anything about it.

He can still redshirt.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't show the kind of improvement desired of him he may redshirt this coming season.

I have seen this comment on the board before...yet I wonder how much different could Vooch actually be from the time we last saw the team play (March 15) until the Spring game (April 6).

It would seem more likely that the perspective of viewing Vooch standing near other tall basketball athletes v. seeing him with fellow students/spectators may be the more likely explanation...

While I can't imagine he could have changed much in that 3 week time-frame.... I sure hope the bulking up version is accurate, as I think he has shown flashes of a kid with good shooting touch....in need of muscle.

Additionally, regarding Vooch, Coach Miles went out of his way in one of the later KFAB Monday night interviews this season to praise Vooch and explain how important he is to the future of Nebrasketball.

a lot of weight gain can happen in 3 weeks with bulk and muscle if your hiting the weights properly

I took smiles post to mean he had a preference for the B1G and my response was a poor one. Probably mistaken.

Someone on another website posted that Georgia just recieved the commitment of a juco forward other than Sai Tumalla. In addition, he does not believe that Sai has a commitable offer from ASU. Not sure of the credibility of this information, just thought I would pass it on!!!

Found this: http://dogbytesonline.com/georgia-adds-junior-college-forward-to-recruiting-class-70923/

Cameron Forte is a 6-7, 210-pounder who is apparently a SF/PF tweener. He's from Tempe apparently. Small world. A friend of Sai's?

This is may be the most important nugget from the link: Forte would fill the last remaining scholarship available in this class.

That talk about Tummala not having a committable offer makes sense to me. When you see stories about his final list, they include Nebraska, BYU, Georgia and Santa Clara. Perhaps he's not interested in waiting around for a legit offer. Now if Arizona State comes through with an offer soon, maybe that all changes.

As it stands, Georgia was his final visit (if memory serves), so that means we got the final shot among teams that have solid offers. If we were the team to beat, I think that means he's committing in the next few days.

Fingers crossed.
