Like him or not, Martinelli can score.

If he transfers out(which I’m guessing he will to greener pastures than Nebraska) I hope we atleast make a phone call to him…6’7” and super skilled from like 12 foot into the hoop, didn’t see it today but can shoot the three ball too

Hello GG.

Idk how they don’t give him some run the rest of the year….shrink uhlis minutes to zero

you just can’t run line ups out there that involve hoiberg uhlis meah or Wooster uhlis meah or Wooster hoiberg meah….theres just something to be said for being 6’7” and having the term “shooter” attached to your name.

His defense isn’t that bad either, sure he’s skinny so there’s some obvious mis match issues there but I think he just didn’t know what the hell he was doing to begin the year.

I went back and watched his minutes.   He did a lot of good things.  I'd play him a bit against Penn State when Sam needs a breather.  Griffiths probably isn't in the rotation once Berke gets back but could provide some minutes now.  His three point shot has to be accounted for and his length on defense actually makes it difficult on shooters.

Too snowy to go outside today, so I finally started this thread to pass the time enjoyably. Thanks for the comments-some were perceptive, and others were humorous. Overall, it seems we like to make more comments when the team plays badly by a 2-1 margin rather than when we are playing well. Sort of like a political board in that respect.

Yeah, it sorta is.

That said, maybe we can find a way to leverage him, at least for spot minutes.

Not bad enough to not throw him out there with the current bench make up.  I get it was northwestern but he wasn’t hurting us on defense yesterday and just the fact that his defender has to stay close to him on offense based off of reputation is big for Gary and Williams driving the ball.

You've probably figured out I like this kid. If he contributes Wednesday night like he's got a handle on things, he'll see minutes in every game the rest of the season.

Totally agree Cip.  I think you and I are from the age of work hard sit on the bench if need be, BUT your time will come.

I'm not a big proponent of redshirts but think he should use his next year.  Use it to put on 20 pounds.  Remember when Ray Gallegos did that (took a redshirt after playing two years)?  Hopefully Griffiths sticks around, I'm not sure transferring again would be the right move.  It seems like he needs time in a system and a bit more weight.

Considering you get paid to play college basketball redshirting at any point is like adding another year of salary.

He needs strength not necessarily weight.  Although some weight may appear as a result.  He needs to add intensity.  He needs to add lateral quickness.  He needs to enhance his basketball IQ.
