I'm not a charter member of this board, but I'm damn close.  There are people I've met here who I consider very good friends. Whether it's lunch, or get togethers before Husker games,

just know I cherish the time I've spent with all of you.

One of my favorites is someone I've never met in person.  His name is Tom Plotts.  When he started posting, it was all left leaning.  Of course, my posts are right leaning. Guess what? We gave each other shit and laughed about it.  It's too long ago so it can't be found, but Norm joked about how Husker basketball could bring left and right together.  He was right.  I sure miss Norm's posts....

I want to thank everyone who contributed to tcp's cause last year.  It truly touched his heart!

I've pm'd Tom a couple times in the last few months. He always responds immediately. No reply. I assumed the worst, so, I reached out to the man I knew who could get an answer, HB, and he came through with an impeccable source.

Tom Plotts passed away on 5-28-24.

For the last several years, Tom and I talked on a regular basis.  He was so proud of the work he was doing for veterans in front of the Oklahoma legislature. When he got the chance to go to DC, which you all were part of, he was so happy.  I wish we could have won a game in the tourney last year.  Oh well.

Husker basketball and music brought Tom and me together.  Music is a bond...   That's why I do the video thing.    RIP, mon frere!

Sorry to hear that TCP has passed Cip. TCP has been on my mind Since the season began. I guess I don't have to worry about where TCP is now. I know God will take care of TCP.

Sad news. May he rest in peace.

Sometimes I ask myself if Nebraska basketball will ever win an NCAA Tournament game in my lifetime. I'm fairly young so I figure of course they will, especially if I live another 40-50-60 years.

And then I think of all the Nebraska basketball fans who in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s probably said the same thing. And then I get depressed.

Had the same thoughts brother. Last year was the most confident I have ever been about a team winning too. They still couldn’t get it done.

I always thought we would get that W for me to witness.  But now I'm an old, have friends and relatives in my age group passing, and am doubting it.  Might be the cause of a more negative viewpoint of what I've seen so far with this year's team than is justified.  So bear with those posts.

Tom was funny because he'd make posts with typos in them not because of his typing but because he had a key on his keyboard that didn't work.  He didn't want anyone to send him a new one though.  He was one of the many guys from the old board that Dave started.  Sorry he never got to see that first tourney win like he'd wanted.

One of my favorite things is seeing the regular avatars and screen names pop up around here each year. Knowing that despite all the craziness our lives each have, we all shared this one thing in common. We all kept coming back year after year. Some years we get our shins kicked, some years our nuts kicked, but we all endure together and are able to chat about it right here year after year.

TCP was no different. I hope he rests in peace. I hope he rests in peace and puts in a good word with the big guy up stairs for Husker Basketball.

Whatever words he is speaking, TCP needs to keep speaking them! Thanks for the help from above brother!

Farewell, Tom.

I had hoped so much that we would gain that elusive NCAA tourney win while you were still alive to enjoy it. I prayed that you would live to see it. Sorry to see you go. I hope whatever you believe about such things, you've wound up in "the good place."

This hits a little close to home for me. I'd only told a couple of people on the board that, back in the day, Tom and I knew each other. I had debated revealing to him that we were acquaintances way back when. I'm kind of a private person and that private side of me won out. There was a part of me that wishes I had told him, hey, do you remember a Toga Party at Mick's place when we found Roger passed out in a closet? Yeah, I was there.

"Et tu, Buckhorn." IYKYK

And may your soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the Mercy of God, Rest in Peace, Amen.

Edited to add: Speaking of Mick, he's also passed away. Cancer. A merciless and brutal killer. If you knew a Mick who died from cancer, I bet we knew the same guy. He was one of a kind. That circle of friends has gotten a lot smaller. Damn. Damn damn damn.

If you don't already see your personal physician on a regular basis, everyone needs to start having (at least) an annual checkup. Might find something while it's treatable and before it becomes an advanced condition.
