Late in the UVA-CSU game, they showed a CSU fan in the stands with a shirt/sweatshirt that said "VIRGINIA BASKETBALL IS IOWA FOOTBALL" or something close to that.  I got a good chuckle out of that.  They were brutally bad on the offensive end.

Seems we can knock one conspiracy theory off the list: “The committee will select teams based on exciting play and storylines.”

Seems to be why they got exiled to Dayton.

The grand debate:

Boise State is somewhere around 0-9 in the NCAA tournament. But they've qualified for Dayton and have a chance tonight against Colorado to get a win.

Does it "count" if they win?

Yes, which brings me to this, hearing over & over about our NEVER Winning a Tournament Game gives the impression that we’ve always been BAD. Which as we all know here is far from the Truth. A Deep Run & some memorable Wins can change that. Go Big Fred & Go Big RED…!

No. Need to win in the field of 64, in my book !

Hot take:  THose NIT games last night were darn good games!!  A lot better than the play in games!

They were good, yes.

Enough of the Virginia bashing! Tony Bennett is a great coach who wins with less talent than Duke and Carolina.  By the way, he has a championship ring.  How he won 23 games with his current roster is a testament to his ability.

Absolutely, you are in the Tournament.  Didn’t VCU and UCLA go all the way to the Final Four.  I would have been thrilled with a win in Dayton.

I would throw fists like I'm Marty McFly if our first win was in Dayton and people questioned if it counted

Agree 100%. Stephen A. Smith and others are idiots who don't know the game. Virginia's program was a dumpster from the mid-90s until the 2010s when he got there. People just don't like watching his offense. His offense is often (not so much this year) very efficient and very effective. Many coaches and teams have copied his (his dad's) packline defense, or at least aspects of it. He produces NBA players (9 of them currently in the league right now). And like you said, he's got a ring. I like watching his teams, because they are very well coached. They had a "bad" year and still made the tournament. They will be elite again soon enough. He will keep building with his guys and end up with a team full of players who have played together for 4-5 years while everyone else will have a hodgepodge of portal journeymen.

Why don't these talking heads ever call for Calipari to be fired? He lost in the 2nd round last year, 1st round the year before to a 15 seed, and didn't even come close to the NIT the year before that. Awhile back he had a team with two top 10 picks and another first rounder and they went to the NIT.

And lost at home to a team they shouldn't have, only a year after winning the NCAAs. He's been a dumpster fire, I'm a Sixer fan and he was simply atrocious in Philly & yet here he is with a lifetime contract. lol

There are very few coaches better than Tony Bennett.  He took Washington State to the NCAA.  Kudos to the current Wazzu Coach for getting that program to the tourney.

The only problem with Bennett is that the committee probably should have put in Oklahoma instead

not gonna get any disagreement from the locals down here....the Norman contingent in Cushing was beside itself....

I will forever think the play in games are stupid.

UCLA and VCU would beg to differ.  Lasalle made a run to the Sweet 16 and several have went on to win games.

Sure, the fans of whatever school gets the play-in would agree. But I agree with @busticket they're stupid. Should have kept it at 64 or do another round. Don't half ass it. And then to tell us they aren't play-in games is absurd.
