The women's basketball portal transfer ends May 1st.  Not much time left if we're picking up someone.

Should I be nervous ?, or are we fine as we are now.

They don't have to be committed to a new school by May 1st. Just have to have entered the portal by then.

Illinois picks up grad transfer from Rhode Island...6' 5" Tenin Magassa (France) also signed Mississippi State transfer Jasmine Brown-Hagger.

Maryland adds UConn transfer Amari DeBerry (6' 6" jr)

Kiki Iriafen, who had a breakout junior season at Stanford, is transferring to join the USC women's basketball program, she told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski on Saturday.

Iriafen, a 6-foot-3 forward, will be returning to her hometown of Los Angeles after three seasons at Stanford. This season she averaged 19.4 points, 11.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists for the Cardinal (30-6) who advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16. Iriafen was the Pac-12's most improved player and on the All-Pac-12 team.

She was No. 2 in ESPN's transfer rankings list

Whoa! USC just became much better.  It’s going to be a tough road.  Doesn’t appear we are going to add any size.

JUCO, foreign players, portal.  There are at least three remaining outlets for pools of players.  I am sure the coaching staffers are looking under rocks for players who could improve (our already quality) roster.

And darn it because I was hoping we’d bring in a solid post player.

I wonder if Lindsay Krause would have any interest in coming over to the WBB team in mid December after VB season is over. Do you think she misses playing basketball? She was a force on the b-ball court for Skutt in her high school days. I mean, she’s 6’4”, she’s athletic, and she’s a great leaper. I think she could contribute in the post.

No, I’m not saying she would come in and average 20 pts and 10 rebs a game after being away from competitive basketball for 4-5 years. But her size and her athleticism would be a problem for opposing teams.

Lilly Tauleilei a 6-3 Post player who is a freshman at Univ. of Mass. last season was a visitor at the Nebraska spring FB game last Sat.

She was a decorated player in New Zealand in High School. Would have 3 years left.  Hope she is in or going into the portal and signs with us.

Is she the one that McKewon had in his OWH article?

Looks like this would be a great get. Pretty athletic, runs the floor well for a post, and that touch on the free throw line jumper is nice

Hope we get her. More length than Alexis and could learn playing with her and then still have two years more left.  Also a 4.0 student with what sounds like a good personality.  Looking for headlines that she signs with us!!!!

Petrie had a decent freshman season...............however, i liked her much better when she was on the floor with Markowski. If things remain the same, i just pray Markowski is injury free next season. would hate to think of her having a lengthy injury.......or God forbid, a season ending injury. I was hoping staff would find a 6'4" or + post player. just don't see that happening at this point. maybe i am wrong.

If Tauleilei is a cultural fit then get her on board.  I liked the few times that Petrie and Potts played together but that makes us small.  Hargrove might be the big athletic wing we haven’t had.  Still hoping for more additions.

Amy seems to be the type of coach who does not want a lot of transfers. Some coaches bring in 4-5 transfers. Thinking Amy is more along the lines of 1-2 players. Not sure how that will play out and I hope I am wrong about her. Time will tell.

We will be fine.  I like her system and 2 latest assistant coach hires.  It is a joy to go to the games and watch the great chemistry on the team.

Agree.  Not just transfers, she seems to prefer a smaller roster.  Have we ever used our allotted number of scholarships? I hope it is preference, and not an issue with recruiting players. As mentioned, time will tell.

Markowski could use an extra body inside to help muscle up with some of these teams. She really takes a beating some games

Just an observation....maybe means nothing.

Looked at her season stats and see her rebounding was about 3 rebounds per game, playing with substantial minutes.

If she commits, how does that playout for us. Need double than that... or more....from our post ? Or is she actually more of a 4 ?

When Markowski graduates, the team must make up for the loss of 10 reb's per game, in addition to what they will "normally" do.  Not from Tauleilei...... but the team as a whole

The team she played for was not very good and who knows what they ran on offense and defense. Also she was a freshman.  Her stats in New Zealand were much higher.  You may not have somebody every year that averages 10 rebounds per game.
