  1. Mendelson has the potential to have the most success since Erstad as a two sport athlete.
  2. I think Amy is more about having that family type feel in her program. At least with her staff so she did not stray out of the box with this hire.
  3. I was thinking Popa was more a work in progress. As she had a redshirt I think it was more for her to get upto speed for the D1 level of play. We do not know how much she progressed this past year. With the play of Markowski she will be a backup and may not see much court time. Very little players are willing to sit behind players anymore. Part of why there are so many players in the transfer portal. Also players realize they want to be closer to home. So for her it could be multiple things.
  4. So if Scoggin does not find a home to play her last 1-2 years does she stay and take advantage of her scholarship? That is quite a bit of money to throw away if you are going to have to pay your way at another school and no longer be an active player.
  5. As long as we are talking about ex-players as our next assistant, Lindsey Moore would top my list.
  6. I do not think the length of his contract has anything to do with not having an answer to his leaving. The longer this drags the worse it looks for the program IMHO. I also think Amy will hire within, namely Logan Seiser.
  7. So I wonder if any B1G teams are interested?
  8. Actually, we could have 5 players in their last year this fall depending on how they are able to use a covid year. Haiby, Shelley, Bourne, Brady, and Dillard. Haiby is the only super senior. The rest could be seniors or juniors. Brady, and Dillard maybe have a medical/redshirt so they might have extra time.
  9. While I would like to see a 4 come in, I think our back court will be OK. Also think we need to work with Coley as a 3 and stop this using her as a 4. Hence getting a 4 to come in.
  10. It would be nice to pickup a 4 as Mendelson could very well not see any time til after conference play has started. With the VB team loaded they could play into the final four.
  11. This whole thing just seems off. With his promotion last year to AHC it would seem there was no previous funny business on his part unless Williams knew and did nothing or she really does not know what is going on which looks bad on her. My guess is Love had done nothing prior. If this was something Scoggin had done at prior stops then UNL could have a major problem on it's hands hence taking their time to make sure all "i" are dotted and all of the "t" are crossed. Finally if this was a setup based on previous behavior but something that has not happened here then there is a much bigger problem and again reason to take their time with this.
  12. Whitney Brown will make a nice player for someone. Depending on where she lands she could be a starter. A little surprised by the two Maryland transfers. Both will be starters wherever they end up.
  13. It's too easy to leave one for another now. Not too many want to not start for 2 or 3 years before getting a shot or playing better than half the game.
  14. Actually UCONN I believe is picked to win over NC State. Partially because they are playing in their own back yard, in Bridgeport.
  15. This run by Creighton will help with their recruiting. Might get some players to come who could have looked elsewhere. South Dakota while loosing three super seniors have a couple of freshman to fill the void. Grace Larkins has a nice game.
  16. I wasn't sure but it looks like you can use your CV year and play for another team.
  17. I believe medical does not count against your numbers if they declare they are forced to retire.
  18. I would agree on Sam returning. She and Amy seem to have a close bond.
  19. I think Cayton is still looking to play somewhere. Her masters is in applied science. I thought I seen someplace it was Ag related.
  20. Coley shows promise but I think using her as a 4 hurt her development. She looked almost confused at times later in the year. Stewart's problem is defense. We could use another 4 if Stewart leaves. I think 5 will be OK with Markowski and Popa coming off the bench. At this point not sure if we ever will see Brady and Dillard on the floor. They both seem to have the injury bug.
  21. I did not think she had anytime left to play college ball.
  22. I am not a fan of all of this extra covid year stuff. My example would be Markowski and Cain. If Kate had taken a covid year then we don't see Markowski develop into the BFOY. So I am sure I will be one of the few to hope they move on.
  23. I think you can credit a lot of the success this year to Shelley, Markowski, and Weidner. The thing you need to remember is coaches can say to a player " We need you to be more of a long range threat". It is up to them to work on those skills. Foecke spent many hours alone in the VB gym here at NE to work on skills she needed to improve on, one being serving. She ended up being quite the server. Plus some players just don't have much room to improve. This is IMHO Amy's best job of coaching.
  24. Not surprised to see Nye leave IL. She will be a good addition for her next team.
  25. I agree with that a bad loss (PSU) hurt our seeding in the tourney. Also 8-9 games are toss up mostly. We will have out hands full. I did watch Louisville play earlier this year and then can flat out bury you quickly if they get going. So provided we get by Gonzaga it will be a tall order to take them down at home.
