I’m going off CBS bracket so hopefully they have it correct. CBS currently has us as a 10-seed against Boise St in Indianapolis. Honestly? That would not suck. We're one spot ahead of them in Kenpom, so they're not like invincible. Winner of that game would take on Marquette as the 2-seed per their current bracketology. I'd be down with giving a run at that. doc1394 and millerhusker 2 Quote

Just didn’t seem like we would be in Omaha unless we did but I’m not sure of all the rules the committee uses. Just going off CBS bracket breakdown. Quote

Norm Peterson Posted March 5 Author Report Posted March 5 I'd just like to point out that EVERY GAME IS A HOME GAME FOR THE CINDERELLA OF THE TOURNAMENT. And that'll probably be us until we get knocked out. These are not likely to be neutral environments. If we're in the lead or close with five minutes left in our first-round game, the whole arena is going to be chanting "GO! BIG! RED!" in unison. And every game thereafter, all the rest of everybody's fans will be pulling for us to pull off upsets. If you are fortunate enough to attend, be sure to welcome all the new Husker fans to the fanbase. millerhusker, OurDecay and jason2486 2 1 Quote
Norm Peterson Posted March 5 Author Report Posted March 5 I'll go a step further: If we make the dance (not a big "if" at this point) the university should invest $100,000 in t-shirts to be GIVEN AWAY to anyone who bought an all-session pass at whatever venue we're assigned to. Everyone will want a #30 Tominaga jersey. I'm tellin' ya. (And if they follow my suggestion, just one more request: relaxed fit t-shirts, please. Fat guys don't like looking like they've been squeezed into a sausage casing.) jason2486 1 Quote

And Marquette’s star PG (Tyler Kolek) is out indefinitely right now too. They say oblique but I’ve seen rumors it’s academics? Who knows. But I’m sure they’re a very different team without him. Quote

aphilso1 Posted March 5 Report Posted March 5 6 hours ago, hhcmatt said: Perhaps I'm misreading this if that’s where those teams would go according to bracketing principles and they’re not top-4 seeds Honestly I don't know how to rationalize what the Committee Chair said in his interview with their written bracketing principles. The principles state that they won't put a Top-4 seed in a second round potential home court disadvantage. But then in the interview you quoted, he says he would put Nebraska in Omaha or BYU in SLC as a non-top4 seed...but how can they do that without violating their bracketing principles? If you're not a Top 4 seed, then you will be playing a Top 4 seed in either the first round (if seeded 13-16) or potentially in the second (if seeded 5-12). I think you hit the nail on the head when you state it's written like stereo instructions. The explanation just adds confusion rather than making it more clear. Quote
Vinny Posted March 5 Report Posted March 5 I think means that year to year, they’ll do whatever they want when it comes to seeding and location, depending on how they feel at the time. And if it seems confusing, don’t worry, the committee will be different in a few years, so the answers to these questions will be different as well. Make sense now? Quote

Ron Mexico Posted March 5 Report Posted March 5 I think Purdue and Houston are locks for #1 seeds. Which means they will end up in Indy and Memphis respectively. UConn is a near lock for a #1 seed, which means they'll end up in Pittsburg or New York. That 4th #1 seed is very much in the air. Potentials are : Tennessee, Marquette, and Arizona with ISU, UNC trailing behind at this point. Tennessee as #1 puts them in Charlotte Marquette as #1 puts them in Detroit. Arizona as #1 or #2 puts them in SLC. UNC as #1 puts them in Charlotte. ISU as #1 or #2 puts them in Omaha. With above noted: (CU is out in all scenarios to play in Omaha.) ISU as #1 and we are getting shipped if we are an 8/9. ISU as #2 and we have chance if we can claw our way to a #7 seed as I don't believe we'll drop to #10. We can play our way into a #7 seed, which is possible via the BTT. This, of course, is dependent on how the committee would view us playing essentially a home game. I have a hard time talking myself into this scenario although other factors could come into play that would force that decision. 8/9 seed - Think we win 2 of our next 3 to end up as a high 8 low 7. We know we aren't going to be in Purdue's bracket as an 8/9 and thus Indy is out. Could end up in Houston's bracket, but I just don't think so. I also don't think we end up in UConn's bracket. That still leaves a lot of potential locations against teams that I wouldn't mind playing if we get to the 2nd round. 7/10 seed - Does the committee care as much about "close to home for a #2 seed? This is my ISU scenario above. What about KU as a #2? The 5/12 - 4/13 and 3/14 - 6/11 seeds are very unlikely for us I think. Would beating MSU, Ill and PU on our road to BTT Tile move us up to a #6? Maybe, but that is a highly unlikely scenario although not impossible, just very unlikely. Dang it, now I have that scenario in my head. In the end that 4th #1 will be decided based on the results of conference tournaments. This will have a huge impact on where we end up as currently we are either low/mid 8 or high 9 with the potential to move up to a 7. Another huge impact will be the results of the BTT as they could result in a lot of shuffling especially for Nebraska, NWU, MSU, and Wisconsin. Quote
cipsucks Posted March 6 Report Posted March 6 Okay, I've seen bracket projections that have us anywhere from a 7 to 10 seed, locations all over the country except east coast. We'll find out in less than two weeks. Here's my question: regardless of where we are and seeding, would you rather be in a Thursday/Saturday bracket or Friday/Sunday? I remember the late night Thursday fiasco in Minneapolis in 91. Princeton after we won the Big 8 tourney was a Thursday, I believe. When Lue almost beat Arkansas was a Friday, IIRC. So, what do you guys think? Quote
hskr4life Posted March 6 Report Posted March 6 I believe Baylor was a Thursday afternoon if I remember correctly. Quote
