Minnesota and Illinois going COVID postponement.  I swear if those Goofers ruin our chance at another win, I'm going to be so mad.

I know your original point, but..

Yeesh, our roster is already thin. We better not run into some of these issues or we're really going to struggle to throw something together on the court and finish out the season.

If I were to get beaned by some Creighton fan I guarantee that I wouldn't walk out with the worst head injury among the attendees

The best advice is to pull the sweater vest over the head and then go to town like you're in a hockey fight. Works every time.

I...can't.  Here's the first half of their schedule:

Mon Nov 7 32 268 Robert Morris W, 91-53 70   Home 1-0
Thu Nov 10 26 289 Charleston Southern W, 82-56 68   Home 2-0
Wed Nov 16 27 351 Eastern Illinois W, 65-43 74   Home 3-0
Mon Nov 21 29 22 San Diego St. L, 88-77 72   Neutral 3-1
Tue Nov 22 31 61 Cincinnati W, 81-53 60   Neutral 4-1
Wed Nov 23 25 69 Texas Tech W, 80-73 62   Neutral 5-1
Wed Nov 30 20 33 Duke L, 81-72 69   Away 5-2
Sat Dec 3 22 335 St. Francis PA W, 96-59 68   Home 6-2
Thu Dec 8 20 17 Rutgers W, 67-66 64   Home 7-2 1-0
Sat Dec 17 18 36 North Carolina L, 89-84 82 OT Neutral 7-3
Wed Dec 21 17 257 Maine W, 95-61 69   Home 8-3
Thu Dec 29 15 326 Alabama A&M W, 90-59 73   Home 9-3
Sun Jan 1 13 51 Northwestern W, 73-57 68   Away 10-3 2-0

They racked up a bunch of wins against mediocre to bad competition (and Rutgers) early on, and lost to everyone else with a pulse.  The only thing I can think of here is the KenPom previous seasons' bias is keeping their ranking inflated.

You would think the influence of the metrics from the previous season bias for all of these teams would be completely wiped by now. Crazy.

KenPom apparently factors in scoring differential and margin of victory (or loss) fairly heavily.  Ohio State has only one double digit loss; Nebraska has 13.

KenPom uses scoring efficiency and defensive efficiency, balanced with strength of opponents. With what OSU has scored vs. what they've given up, they should have a much better record. That's what the "luck" component is, and OSU is 363rd, dead last.

They've lost a lot of close games, but their wins have been by big margins generally. I'm not sure I've seen anyone with a profile quite like this before.

How bad would OSU's luck ranking be if they hadn't been gifted that game against Rutgers where the B1G had to issue a formal statement that the officials blew the call at the end of the game, allowing OSU to hit the winning 3? That was one of the luckiest wins in the entire B1G season.

From the eye test, OSU's bad "luck" is self-inflicted. They looked disinterested and undisciplined when they were in Lincoln, and that hasn't changed much to me watching them since.

That core group of guards has been together a while and finally got it together. Amazing that they lost their bigs in the offseason, Nance to North Carolina and Ryan Young to Duke, and they're playing better.

yeah, they lost those two guys but got "older" with transfers in.  Kinda like when we had Walker, Griesel, and Bandoumel on the floor at once.
