Yes but think of the storyline for the talking heads. The greatest coach ever at Nebraska, who now has the number one team at Arkansas against a Nebraska team that is coached by one of his best players back at Nebraska.  And Nebraska plays the game like Van Horn taught Bolt.

True, but that would play out even better in the CWS. Now it can't.

Sorry Nebraska is nowhere near CWS good.  Maybe in a couple of years.

I believe the argument was that we had a solid team to get to Super Regionals and fizzle out. But the way they've seeded us puts the probability of fizzling out in regionals much higher than it should have been. Not CWS or bust.

Honestly nobody knows this.  We have zero point of reference because we didn’t play out of conference.  We are a wildcard.  Getting out of the Arkansas regional would be a massive undertaking.  Highly unlikely that happens as they are the #1 overall seed.  At a minimum we will have a better feel for what we have after seeing us play some of the other top teams from around the country.

The only comparison reference is this: in the last College World Series played (2019), Michigan played for the championship against Vanderbilt—won the first game, losing the last two.

In 2019, we played Michigan in the last weekend of the season—we won the series 2 games to 1, and then played them twice in the B1G Tournament (split those two games).  Then, we had 1 win and 2 losses in the regional.

everything NU does this year is a gift. no one expected them to do jack.

what better motivation than to go into DVHs backyard and pull off an upset?

These guys have been underdogs all year. They're good at it.

In a perverse way, this is the perfect regional for them.

How do we know that right now?  Really?  We don’t because Kevin Warren decided to F everything up.

We have the Big 10 coach, player, and freshman of the year.  We won 30 games in a conference only season.  We have two solid weekend guys and a lineup that can go big as quickly as we could go home.

Everything would probably have to be perfect for us to come out of the Arkansas regional this year, no matter the team, but we don’t know know much about our team except that we were the best in the conference by a decently wide margin.

Unfortunately, we could be CWS good this year and still not make it out of regionals.  That’s why people are pissed.  Arkansas fans aren’t too thrilled we were put in their either.

That's a pretty good point.  Imagine being the #1 team in the country, and your reward is to draw a team that just ran laps around the B1G.  I get that the NCAA is punishing Big Ten teams for not playing OOC, but it is also punishing the other teams in those regionals at the same time.

How many times will the conference allow the commissioner to F everything up before handing him his walking papers?

First the football season; now this. He learned no lessons. The conference suffered as a result.

Warren has been a disaster.  I just don’t know if the conference has the, ahem, political capital to get rid of him.

Well, they hired Alvarez to keep Warren from having to speak with the football coaches. Maybe when Izzo retires, he can become the buffer between Warren and the hoops coaches.

There's only 20 or so sports, so, it may take a while, but I think they can hire Warren buffers for all of them.

Then they just need to hire a negotiator to buffer him from having to deal with the upcoming football TV package and they're set.

I think this is the safest way to go.

I originally read that as "hire Warren Buffets for all of them" and I was like, man, how many are there?
