Tim Miles's dream job was Minnesota, but I don't think he'll be up for consideration. I personally think Minnesota should go after Craig Smith. He knows the area ... he's a good coach .... he'd be a really good, sneaky get. Minnesota has a lot of potential but they probably expect a slight bit more than they should there. That being said they lose a lot of their in state talent and it especially hurts when quite a bit of it heads down to Madison, Wisconsin over the years.

The former big ten coach for Minny to make a run at would be Jim Beilien

I thought this when he was calling our game the other day. Maybe he’ll have better options than Minnesota though.

Lots of great options for Minnesota.  Craig Smith, Niko Medved, Darian DeVries...I think they could make a legit run at getting Eric Musselman away from Arkansas.  Heck, I wouldn't rule Hoiberg out even.  That's a very attractive job for a lot of reasons.

If they had Hoiberg or Musselman money, which is money to buyout and pay a high end coach, they wouldn't have hired Richard Pitino in the first place

The AD that hired Pitino resigned amid a sexual harrasment scandal.  Their current AD seems much more competent.

Names surfacing latest at Penn State Dennis Gates Shaka Smart John Beilein James Jones Brad Brownell Tom Crean

Dennis Gates was an assistant at Cal during the same time period when Penn St AD Sanny Barbour was there.  I became aware of this after it was pointed out that Armon Gates seemed to go out of his way to talk to Barbour after our game at Penn St.

If this is true, the Lobos just gained a new fan!

Miles would kill it there.  But it sounds like UNM fans would not be happy:  https://www.thelairnm.com/community/lobo-basketball/tim-miles-4/

Might be in the minority here, but not sure it'd be a good fit. Much higher expectations at UNM than any other place he's coached. Places like that only like coaches with a "shtick" if they're winning a lot. If not, they'll turn on him quickly.

Can't believe that Shaka Smart would leave Texas for Penn State.  But if someone for Penn State says his name, I guess his name has surfaced.

You might want to re-read that as the context of that particular post was that their program under Prohm has reached Iowa St McDermott level of mediocrity.  Better yet, don't read that. 🙃

Maybe be ISU will get Mcdermott?  Doesn't seem to be getting much better at Creighton. No, I don't know more than what's appeared in the press already.

I've been reading their board. They seem to think it will be Hoiberg or Altman. I'm not kidding. They are setting themselves up for MASSIVE disappointment.
