Pat Chambers is coming off a one game suspension where Penn State was blown out at home vs Wisconsin.  No idea how they respond here though previously they had played most games closely This is a team that wins with defense and rebounding. They've held some good offenses in the 60s with their defense and pace.

Mike Watkins is still a load but he hasn't been quite as good as he was last year.  He's playing only about 15-25 minutes and typically it's not because of foul trouble

PF Lamar Stevens is their goto player but he's taking almost half his shots from mid-range and is a poor outside shooter. We can also stick Copeland on him.

Stephens and Watkins combined for 38 points vs Michigan and the team scored 55 (Michigan scored 68)  In other words, it's ok if those two beat us individually if everyone else is watching.

Josh Reaves has been the X factor for this team in terms of defense and efficient scoring.  He's having an off year offensively but he's going to give Palmer trouble.

Freshmen SG Myles Dread and PG Rasir Bolton are probably the keys offensively because they take the lion share of 3pt attempts.  Dread is mostly used as a spot of 3 and is hitting about 34%  Bolton is more dynamic and and a higher volume shooter, takes about half from 2, half from 3.

They have a player named Trent Buttrick and I don't know if his name is pronounced 'But-trick' or 'Butt-Rick'

Damn. Nice analysis, then you did him dirty

They started off the season ranked #31, slipped to #49 before their game with Wisconsin and are now at #60.

We have won at the Bryce Jordan Center before (Miles' first year) so it's possible. It's mostly been a series of last minute defeats in front of nobody at the Bryce Jordan Center.

The game will be on FS1 instead of the BTN so maybe they will figure out how to filter out the annoying crowd sounds from that place.

I saw that Bartovik showed an uptick in Penn St's offense over the last 5 games and then it was like the scene from Revenge of the Nerds where they can't figure out how the Tri-Lams are selling all of these crappy pies. It's the FT Line; Penn St has been getting there a lot more since we played them in early January

This doesn't bode well for shallow team like ours. Hopefully we can limit Penn State's chances inside the paint and still keep our starters out of foul trouble.

Specifically it's Lamar Stevens and Watkins so it will be tough sledding for our guys in the paint.  I hope we feel good about our zone defense Myles Dread is the only guy who has consistently knocked down outside shots in conference.  Rasir Bolton has a lot of FT attempts because he's easily the best FT shooter on a team full of bad FT shooters and Penn St makes sure to get him the ball.

Anything out there about nanas status? Surprised/concerned we didn’t see him vs northwestern

I noticed that he looked very engaged on the bench, for whatever that is worth.

I just think that with our current stretch we need more D than O and Amir provides more than Nana on that front.  One is an offensive role player and one is a defensive role player, but both have a role.  We are just in a stretch where Amir needs to play a larger role than Nana.

It shouldn’t have to be a one or the other we should be giving them both a chance at about ten minutes a game

Right now, we don't have the luxury of giving people chances to show what they got.  We need the best possible players in there to help us win.  If that means playing Thor and Amir for hustle and D vs Nana... then so be it.

It would be different if Nana was shooting like he did in non conference.  He would be able to get a few minutes.   Right now, he struggles on defense,  and is ice cold from 3.  That's not getting one minutes.

Also agree with this on the offensive end of things.
