Please correct me if I'm remembering this incorrectly, but weren't you adamant about retaining Miles at the end of last year?  I remember someone blasting me for daring to suggest that Miles is a poor roster manager, and I could've sworn that was you.  I just find it interesting that you're starting to make comments very similar to ones I made previously that you downvoted me for.

I just had to spend 5 minutes on hold (yay) so I figured what better way to spend my time on hold (yay) than to quickly scroll through your posts looking to see if there were any downvotes and, if so, whether Pimp had given them to you.

I think you're wrong.  I looked through 2 years just looking at downvotes and I didn't see any indication Pimp had ever given you a downvote in the last two years.

Hey, it was something to do while on hold that didn't take much brain power.  So ... your comment made me curious and I decided to find out.  -_-

This is exactly what I had down:

I just was more specific and had us winning at home against Md and IU and losing on the road at Wisc and Minn.

But I also have us beating Rutx2, Iowa, Ill on the road, and home vs. PSU to end the regular season.  That's 5 straight wins to end the season and 12 conference wins overall.

As long as we drop Rutgers like a 2 foot putt, we're still on schedule.  Beat Rutgers on the road and Iowa at home, and the next two games are pressure-free road games where wins help but losses don't hurt.  And picking up one of those road games against either Wisc or Minn gets us ahead of the curve.

Crazy to me to think we need to go 7-2 the rest of the season to "feel good" going into the Big 10 tourney.   At the beginning of the year I (and I think most on here) would have been absolutely thrilled with a 9-9 conference record this year.   If we go 7-2 from this point forward that is 12-6.   Not saying that isn't possible - but I would still feel pretty good about 10-8 and would be delighted with 11-7 in the conference.

I do love that people are starting to have higher expectations for the program - even if it is matched with pessimism and roller coaster type enthusiasm.   We went through a lot of years where there were no expectations at all which was really sad.  During that period (Collier/Sadler regimes generally) the lack of enthusiasm took away the fun from going to the games.  Bottom line to me - this team has the talent to compete at a high level (might be the most talent we have had since some of Nee's teams) and they are fun to watch.   Any team is going to cause frustration but so far this team has performed well above the preseason expectations and I think we should all find a way to enjoy that as fans.

Some of that is beating the expectations of how this team would perform but another part is that most of the conference isn't as good as everyone expected. 11-7 was good enough to get us into the tourney in 2014; It probably won't be here.

We lost the game when we where down four and didn't get a shot up...

I know that offensive possession wasn't going anywhere but Miles put them in tight quarters calling that timeout with 9 seconds left.

I think Palmer was supposed to curl around the Roby screen for a shot but Tate ran through Roby and disrupted it.  Not sure if Copeland stopped counting in his head once he passed off.  He could have taken a 3 from the corner but his lack of setup likely ends up with miss that OSU easily rebounds.  At the end of the day we'd been better off if Miles had just let Palmer huck up a shot.  I don't know if that makes the difference though as OSU had us locked down at that point.

I can just faintly smell a "the offense hasn't been any good since Coach Smith left" comment just off in the distance, there.  I know there are several folks just ITCHING to pull that one out right now...

Actually, our numbers this year are very similar to 2014 from an offensive standpoint.  Obviously, we played a tougher schedule in 2014.  Like 2014, we are mediocre on offense but very good on defense.  If we could just find a way to shoot near 45% on the road our defense should give us a solid chance to win some games.  That 45% numbers Is easier said than done though.

No I wasn't miles fan pretty quickly after he was hired. And was ecstatic when we made our run. But after that he hasn't seem like he's had any forward momentum in terms of recruiting or play style or adapting to the Big 10. It seems like with him it's always one step forward with a good recruit and then two steps back with a crew with the player leaving and losses mounting. I definitely worry as a program we have to lower standards and that miles will get a few more years just because moose hasn't had the chance to properly evaluate him because basketball is in a high enough priority.

To answer your question directly I wanted my miles gone after the last year. I was pretty dishearten the whole offseason because we had retained him.

Roger that.  I remember it getting contentious last year with the "should we or shouldn't we fire Miles" debate, and I thought it was you that got especially cantankerous.  Clearly I remembered wrong.  Unfortunately I'm not good  at carrying grudges and, thus, often don't remember who my previous anonymous internet feuds were with.  I guess that means I'm not good at this whole message board thing yet.

The funny/tragic thing is that our shooting % is better than that year but overall it's relatively lower because Div-1 as a whole is shooting better.

I completely agree with you. We play 4 solid defenses coming up (Rutgers x2, Maryland, Penn St) and we need to figure out how we can be an average offensive team in those games.

I keep a book on hand for times like that, but thanks for the assist.  I am curious now about which poster I misremembered as being Mario...I may go back and check.

I suppose it's possible I missed it.  I was scrolling through pretty quickly just looking for red arrows.  I think I saw a couple by Dean Smith.  That's all I can remember.  You didn't have a lot of down arrows.

Found it.  Won't name the person, but it was not Mario.  Nor was it Dean.  Is there a more efficient way to look for that sort of thing, or do you literally have to scroll through every post and individually look for specific reaction types?  I've never thought about it before, but I guess it would be kinda convenient to be able to filter by "posts receiving downvotes" or "posts with 5 or more reactions" and such.  I only found it quick because I knew what month the exchange occurred in.  Otherwise, it definitely would not be worth the time to scroll forever.

Have you looked at the remaining schedule? It is extremely manageable. We aren't great, but neither is the majority of the B1G. If our guards can play with a little more confidence then we could be a tough out the rest of the way.

Good grief...... that shooting is just worse than bad. Play as hard as you want.. (and they did that)... you don't score, you don't win. 22 pts the first half... (yes OSU only had 24)... we stunk. Palmer had 58% of our TOTAL points. Forget the tournament talk... just try and win the remaning home games... (and that's pushing it).

I've come to terms that you're going to have two types of Nebraska basketball fans:

1. The fans who support the team and 2. the fans who follow the program close enough that they get enjoyment out of making fun of the team.

Winning will take care of #2. Let's just keep finding a way to win.

There is a different type of "fans" that we see occasionally on this board and unceasingly on Red Sea Scrolls.

It's the person who is, actually, a fan of another basketball team, is anti-Nebrasketball to-the-core but feigns otherwise, and is unceasingly negative.

Yep, Huskerboard is unbearingly that way too.  Seems like the posters compete with each other to see who can hate on the team the most - uh, all in the name of "supporting" their favorite team, the "Huskers", naturally.

Many years ago, that same group had a vibrant, free basketball board with lots of discussion.  But the same type of "fans" were so unceasingly and unbearably negative that the free basketball board died: and it's still dead.  I, for one, left that free board long ago for that very reason and moved here instead.  I'm still on Red Sea Scrolls because of Robin Washut's premium information on Nebrasketball and because of Husker football.  But the unceasing drip of negativity from that group of fans toward Nebrasketball is almost too much to bear--and to pay for.

I actually thought Jordie deserved more minutes; or at least some more touches considering how bad everyone (save JPJ) was shooting.

I agree, I think Miles should have put him at the end, last 3 minutes or so. Nothing else was working except JPJ. I think having a big guy in the middle might have helped stop them from driving to the basket. Bates-Diop was killing us inside...

I just checked out what they're saying today.  Here are a couple of samples:

- Coaching search.  Who are we going to get to replace Miles? (in their minds, he's already on his way out the door) Tyronn Lue is the leading candidate

- What we need to do to get to the tourney (win out to get to 23-8 in regular season then probably pick up a couple B1G tourney wins as well and we'll get on the bubble)

I mean, they're as irrational as it gets.  I thank God every day this place exists.

The scary part is a lot of the threads over there consist of reposting tweets related to Nebrasketball, and Dimes' tweets show up with some regularity.  I have fear in my heart that those guys will eventually catch on that HHC exists and come over here to poison our well...

Really?  I clicked through a few recent rando threads and didn't really see anyones tweets. Are these in the pay section?  Are they typically stats, observations, rah-rah, or wise-ass stuff?

BTW, if anyone here thinks they're reading stuff I'm just regurgitating from the forums then I'm really doing my job with that account as the wisdom of the crowd.

It's a hodgepodge (typically in game threads) here's a couple of examples:
