uneblinstu Posted November 27, 2016 Report Posted November 27, 2016 (edited) - Lots of coachable things from this game. - NU started pretty strong but couldn't sustain it. Looked like they hit the wall somewhere in the first half. Virgina Tech was the aggressor from the start of the second half. NU really struggled to answer. - I'm not seeing what Taylor's bringing offensively. - Would like to see Roby getting 5-8 more minutes a game at least. - Webster has been Steady Eddie and continued to be so. - Watson still fighting some all-or-none consistencies. - Morrow had a decent game. Had some spurts where he struggled to secure a couple big rebounds where VT turned it into points. - Virginia Tech is much improved under Williams. They'll be a pretty solid team, I think. - Just couldn't get it going offensively. - Gill and McVeigh really struggling offensively right now. - Had a lot of defensive breakdowns in the 2nd half. - The team that played in the first two games is a tourney team. The one that played today isn't. - I thought Jordy looked pretty good defensively in the few minutes he got. Still got some work to do offensively. He reminds me of Tai in that way. He's got a lot to learn down there and it's coming at him really fast right now. Everyone says he's a hard working grinder that will eat up coaching. If that's true, we'll be talking about him a lot like we're talking about Tai by the time he's done. Hopefully he gets there before his senior year. - I would still like to see more pressure in times when the game isn't on the line. I think it could be a good weapon to spring on teams from time to time. - This weekend was still a net positive for this team. 3 quality opponents. Proved you can compete with good teams. Not quite ready for 3 games in 4 days. Edited November 27, 2016 by uneblinstu hhcmatt and New huskers fan 2 Quote
Huskerpapa Posted November 27, 2016 Report Posted November 27, 2016 Well, there is just seconds left. One significant point, we are so much better than how we played today. This was very frustrating. jayschool 1 Quote

jayschool Posted November 27, 2016 Report Posted November 27, 2016 Good: 15 of 18 from the line. Won rebounds 35-28. That's all I got. AuroranHusker 1 Quote
cozrulz Posted November 27, 2016 Report Posted November 27, 2016 Offensive philosophy still isn't good. Wish Miles would get an actual offensive coach. Not going to win many games playing 2 on 5. jdw and Cowboy Kermit 2 Quote
Cazzie22 Posted November 27, 2016 Report Posted November 27, 2016 Va Tech would not allow penetration by our guards so scoring was difficult. Perimeter shooting was abysmal though there was effort. Tai is playing well. Quote

brfrad Posted November 27, 2016 Report Posted November 27, 2016 I was only able to watch the last 3 minutes, but listened to the entire game. Why in God's great earth does Roby get 1 minute in the 2nd half? Fuller gets 2 minutes in the 2nd half. McVeigh, who should have stayed in Lincoln this weekend gets 11 minutes. McVeigh was 2-17 from 3 in the 3 games. This was a game where our inexperience showed up. We played well on the defensive end in the 1st half, and then we decided we were going to let their leading scorer start a dunk show. Watson kept missing shots today. Somebody needed to take out Hill with that bush league dunk at the end. Quote

We better figure it out because the entire Big 10 has smart enough coaches to know if you don't allow our guards to penetrate, you are going to shut us down. Quote

I guess I shouldn't be too ticked because Morrow did kind of bring it on a little by knocking the ball out of the hand. Quote
jason2486 Posted November 27, 2016 Report Posted November 27, 2016 (edited) I am waiting for the day when we have a team who can more consistently knock down open looks. Obviously, most fan bases probably feel this way too . Edited November 27, 2016 by jason2486 Quote

Huskerpapa Posted November 28, 2016 Report Posted November 28, 2016 I am frustrated. But we have to understand (or at least I think we do) that this a young team that is inconsistent at this point. There will be times where we are amazing, and times like today, where we kinda sucked. + I am a big MJ fan, but he had a bad outing today. + Ed is a man, plus he works his butt off. + Glynn played well on defense, but he was offensively challenged today. + I do not intend to disrespect Nick, but I am confused why he made it into the game today in that situation??? + Jack, well Jack is struggling right now. We need him and need to get his shot back...quickly. + I thought the freshmen did okay today. Perhaps the playing time needs to be extended a bit. + I am very pleased with how Tai is playing. He is playing his butt off and is providing excellent on court leadership. I worry a bit that the team may be over reliant on him. Sort of the Shavon syndrome. We need others to pick up their games to compliment the heart and soul be exhibited by Mr. Webster. brfrad 1 Quote

It is the same crap offense we've been doing under Miles. This team scored 70 points against a DII school. Offensively they are in trouble. colhusker, jdw and ShortDust 3 Quote

huskerbaseball13 Posted November 28, 2016 Report Posted November 28, 2016 158 minutes out of Jacobsen and McVeigh this weekend and all they could produce was 7 total fg's between the two of them. We will be very easy to defend if those two remain a black hole on the offensive end. Hooper 1 Quote

Jack's max potential = Tom Best (u old schoolers know what I'm talking about) Not exactly a guy you can bank on to be big time.
