  1. When Yvan is your age, do you think he will regret his decision to play for his country? Or will he look back fondly on that decision? Personally, I don't think it really matters in the grand scheme of things. I understand your point, but look at it from the perspective of a 17 year-old kid getting ready to move to America for at least four years. Playing for France may have been a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

  2. If everything was cut and dry then why hold the waiver submission for so long? Seems to reason that had we submitted our request earlier we would already have an answer. If the purpose of holding it was to increase our chances of it being granted for this year it would seem that it's already cost Stevenson 3 games. Nature abhors a vacuum. Either the University can fill that void with information or else we can fill it with speculation. I'd prefer the former but that doesn't mean I dismiss the latter.

    Shamiel Stevenson is N

Didn't he leave after 4 games? So, technically they wouldn't have to apply for a waiver, because he would just be eligible for 2nd semester. No waiver needed, but this would be his junior year. So, it seems to me we want him to be a junior next year, either by redshirting the 2nd semester or getting the waiver for him to be a sophmore this season.

    Perspective

Just wait until we have losses to SUU and UC Riverside with wins over Creighton and Purdue.

  12. I admit I'm being selfish. I'm a fan, for goodness' sake. And not a fan of France, particularly.

  13. Unless Shamiel Stevenson is transferring and I miss it, why are we talking about him on this thread? He has TWO whole threads dedicated to his eligibility status! I always have a mini panic attack everytime theres new posts under here

    Roster Attrition

Perhaps since he played 4 games at Pitt as a sophomore, the NCAA is waiting until after our fourth game to grant him eligibility as a sophomore. An argument could be made that he has then sat out one year (redshirt year) and will not have lost any eligibility. No idea if there is an evidence of the NCAA doing this in the past - purely speculation.

  17. Based on my understanding the options are 1. waiver is granted and last year is his redshirt so he is a Sophomore this year. 2. Waiver is denied and last year was his sophomore year so he redshirts this year instead of wasting the junior year on a meaningless half season and starts next year as a junior. The waiver is for the additional year it isn’t a cut and dry 2 years. Guessing they have to substantiate why the 4 games at Pitt shouldn’t count which is the hold up. Not as clear cut as the injury to Cope.

  18. I considered that, but I would imagine if they thought there would be a risk of that happening, they'd forgo the waiver request and just redshirt him, no? Honestly, I don't have any idea how this process should take place, but given the NCAA's capricious nature (or at least it seems that way) I also don't think I'll be willing to just automatically concede any outcome that isn't in our favor is due to incompetence on our AD's part either. I'm sure they are *very* concerned about making sure they do everything they can to be in the best interest of both the team and Shamiel.

  19. NCAA be like: "We wanna eff with Nebraska but the kid went through two coaching changes. Ugh. What to do?"

  20. ok..so.....If he's eligible for the entire season can we do over any losses we had prior to his actually playing? Seems a BS move on the NCAA's part (Do NCAA rules prevent me from saying that?) to make a player eligible for the entire season part of the way through.
