  1. I miss the guys hawking paper tickets as you walk up to the stadium. Fun story, I would bring all three of my boys to the games back at the Bob. But never had tickets for one of them so would give them cash and they would go get a ticket from a scalper. So my middle son who has a bit of a learning disability goes to get a ticket. The guys asks for like $10, my son says I only have money for $5. He is like in 5th grade so the guy says fine. So my son hands him a $20... Guy says I thought you only had $5? He says yeah I have $5 for the ticket, the rest is for food. He just told the guy matter in factly that what was going on. His two brothers start to laugh and the guy says I'll remember you. He sold it to him any way, Next week we are walking up and that same guys asked if we need tickets. Then starts laughing and says ain't selling to you no more.

    End of Game Highlights

I got bored with the football game last night and switched to the end of the Mich State/Washington game to see if the Huskies could reach the degree of ineptitude shown by the Huskers against Sparty (they tried but failed to succeed). Anyway, I was rewarded by noting Villhelm (who is featured in Lindy's with a photo this year) is as gawky as ever (I still like him) and seeing one of the infrequent baskets by Nick Sanders (who is Barry's son and a redshirt for Izzo) and Christian King (who is Rich's son and second year redshirt for Sprinkle). And I believe I just set the HHC record for number of parentheses (7) in a single post. (So, there's that.) Also, that shows there are more interesting things to do than smoke cigarettes and watch Captain Kangaroo.

  3. Fred's system at ISU and the first couple of years at NU was perfectly suited to beat Iowa...but not much else in our case. Fred's system currently is perfectly suited to win a lot more games...but not against Iowa. It's a decent trade-off if you ask me.

  4. I have my wife who doesn't allow me to touch money or anything that goes along with it. I have a sheet of paper with two numbers on it and where our safety deposit box key is in case she dies unexpectedly. So I figure I got that going for me.

  5. This is good advice and what I do...I have a savings account that I only use for SeatGeek, Venmo, etc. and I always transfer money out if the balance ever gets over $100.

  6. This is "The Conversation" erasure and I will not stand for it! --also "The Poseidon Adventure", "The French Connection", "Bonnie and Clyde", "Superman" (1 and 2), "Young Frankenstein", "French Connection II", "Night Moves", "Reds"...and a couple of dozen other movies all starring Hackman before "Hoosiers".

  7. They're not going to budge on their policy. In case you won't either some options include - buying some other tickets with your credit - see if your bank offers a "virtual account number". Otherwise if it's possible to open up another account where you only use it for online and keep a zero balance, that's another option. - set up an account with an online bank. Probably just shifts the problem.

  8. I sold my UCLA tickets on SeatGeek. That was my first time, and I didn't read their fine print before doing so. Then, I tried to get my money from SeatGeek, but the only way I could do so (I found out too late) is to provide the routing number for my bank account. I have a long-standing policy of NEVER providing my bank account routing number to anyone, because of hacking issues and concerns. So, I called customer service at SeatGeak to solve the problem. Here's what they told me: Without my bank account routing number they won't give me my money; In response to my suggestion that they (just this once) do a credit on my credit card or send me a check, they said, "No." So, I said, you are going to keep my money unless I provide my bank account routing number? They said "Yes." That seems unreasonable to me. What do you think?

  15. The only way I used to get my football tickets was from guys around the stadium. Until I got sold fake tickets for the first time. Haven't done it since.

  16. Sorry to hear-- that's a tough situation. In today's day and age of consistent hacking issues, but the heavier use of credit/debit cards, I'd be inclined to just give them the information. Many of these big corporations have heavy security due to the data that they have. Are they 100% foolproof? No, of course not. Nothing truly is. A few years back, I had a check stolen out of the mail, washed, re-written, and cashed for a much larger sum than the original check was written for. I didn't even know that was a thing. I tell you that story because it was MUCH more time consuming doing a fraud report for a washed and stolen check than it is to get reimbursed and new cards shipped out for stolen card info. Legally-- I'm not the go to for what you can do, but if you signed any terms and conditions and it says you have to have an account/routing number-- I'm not sure there is much you can do. Also, it doesn't surprise me that they won't make an exception one time. Big corps usually will say that if they make an exception for one person, they'd have to do it for all.

  17. Looking at that box score and those Free Throws just kills me. We have shot it well from FT line all year and the game we needed it most we laid an egg. Rollie really stands out, starting pg needs to make his FT's. Looked up his season stats and his first 3 years he shot over 80% from the FT line. Last year was 70% and this year is 66%. Not a good trend there. His assist per game has really dropped off from what he put up at Utah as well, not sure if thats due to the system or what but man I was expecting more from him this year.

  18. We'll just have to see what happens with Gavin, but the sports (and real) world is filled with people who tried and tried and failed and failed but persisted and eventually succeeded. One example is Gene Hackman who was told many times he did not have the looks or ability to become an actor but kept trying to get a break and eventually morphed into... Coach Norman Dale.

It is so enjoyable to see Iowa struggle this year. They just lost to IL last night, 62-57. they are now 2-3 in the B1G.

  20. I wouldn’t say they’re excuses. I’m giving reasons why I think he hasn’t been good at DI basketball. He has to shoot better and he has to be physically and mentally tougher. Not everyone can do it. It’s hard. Maybe he doesn’t have it in him. Maybe he does. Whatever the case, I’m sure Fred has had talks with him about what he needs to be doing if he wants to see the court.

  21. I don't disagree with you but going to play devil's advocate a bit. Tai Webster's sophomore year. I don't think I've ever seen a rotation guard more in over his head. The game moved way too fast for him at that point. I actually remember feeling bad for him. Tai wasn't bad or selfish. He did play with fire and toughness imo. He just needed reps, experience and, maybe most of all, confidence.

  22. In my experience... Kids who the game moves too fast for are either: 1. Bad 2. Young 3. Not bought in and more focused on themselves, so they're not doing what they're asked to do before they do what they can do. I don't think he's bad. You can't call him young anymore. So while I don't think he's a selfish kid or a bad teammate, my guess is he's more focused on himself and what he's doing, and not how he fits and moves in the big picture to create opportunities for himself and others. In my personal opinion, and clearly I am not there, he needs a fire lit under his ass and needs to be challenged. "Low confidence" is such a cop-out. Playing with fire, violence, and toughness is a choice.

  23. To be fair to GG, we’ve seen him just once since early December and he had his best minutes in a Husker uniform by a long shot. Now is that because he’s played his way out of the main rotation? Is there still issues in practice? None of that we know for sure. However, his most recent game action was his best in a Husker uniform. So, I back in a wait and see how this shakes out mode with him. I still believe we can turn him into a really good player if he sticks around. However, most don’t do that anymore if they aren’t getting PT. Stay the course GG! Thor, Tominaga, and the list goes on for Huskers who struggled their first year here and broke out years 2-3+.
