...for years many of us HuskerHoops junkies had few if anyone to joke/pal around with. The running joke in my office was that there were only two or three Husker basketball fans in the world. For me, this site provided a sanctuary for Husker basketball discussion and beyond...and at one time there were only a couple handfuls of participants. During that earlier time period, there were more lows than highs and much of the conversation centered around pro change versus no change. Now times are much better...we are not "there" yet, but the light that is at the end of the tunnel is no longer a train preparing to run us over. So for those of us that like to pal around, joke around, get a bit off topic or chatter just to hear each other chatter...there you go. If you do not like the station that the TV is on, either change the channel or turn it off. Same here, if you do not like the direction a topic is going, either attempt to get the topic back on-line (trust me I have tried this, and sometimes it works) or simply ignore the topic. Now what were we talking about5 points -

Swan, thank you SO much for trying to actually keep a thread on TOPIC. I love this board, but man sometimes I have to read thru 3 pages of 2 or 3 guys chit chatting back and forth with each other and making jokes. I would assume email would work well for that.4 points

2015 Recruits
Norm Peterson and 2 others reacted to Row6Seat10 for a topic
I actually think the staff have set their sights on the 2016 class and is all set for the 2015 class to dot their i's and cross their t's on their loi's in November. Baring any last minute additions to the '15 class that we haven't heard about, I believe it looks as if we can put the 2015 recruiting big board to bed and call it a major success. With the Teniya Page commitment last week to Penn St all '15 prospects on our big board have given their verbals with the exception of Arike Ogunbowle. And as most know the Huskers didn't make her final list. Would have really liked to have seen home grown product Kianna Ibis in red next year but that boat came and sailed. But, the long awaited time that we've all been salivating over is about to come to fruition with the signing of Jessica. Also we anxiously await the next sister act to play together since the Kubik's at NU in the Page girls from Kansas! Plus the fact we got what most experts are considering one of the top recruiting classes ever to sign with the Husker wbb program! Excitement abounds as most of us can't wait to see what these new four will add to the mix next year. Now after the signing day I'm sure some of the various recruiting sights will rank the recruiting classes so we'll have to add the Huskers rankings to this thread when they come out. And possibly any update on one of the new signees should it occur. As was last year I want to thank each and everyone who has participated in the discussion and helped make it better and become another entertaining and informative thread. It's threads like this one that make this the best college wbb forum in the land. And I encourage everyone's continued participation as we set our sights ahead unto the 2016 class. I especially would like to thank dlrrk for his valuable contributions and insight with the recruitment of his daughter Rachel!................Much appreciated Colonel!!3 points -

Maybe I'm in the minority but I kind of tire of all the senseless posts that just seek to increase the page count. I know a select few kind of think it's funny and an on-going joke but it just creates so much clutter.2 points

Mark Wieseman(sp?) is the leading rusher ** of Iowa **with less than 100 yards after three games. We have no one on our roster with the initials MW. This is a good sign Why you ask? Because they're the same fricking letter to someone with dyslexia. Speaking of which, if EM has dyslexia he's fine at NU because we're technically UN The fact that our letters are interchangeable makes us better than the other NU which can't swap when convenient. Speaking of convenience, UNL'S campus is close to many local businesses. Including El Potrero and Misty's. El Potrero + Misty's does not = EW EW= business for El Potrero and Misty's Simple math. WE WILL WIN.2 points

Nah. I cannot imagine. The kid is coming here for an official visit on the same weekend that his dad is going to be honored for playing on the national championship team in 1994 that beat Miami in the Orange Bowl. He knows this ahead of time. It's no accident that it worked out this way. I would honestly be shocked if he winds up somewhere else. My guess is the trip is "just to be sure." He's already done an unofficial. He has no other visits pending. He might have already decided and just wants to commit in person. But even if he's still considering his options, this is probably like one last walk through the house before telling the realtor to write an offer. The fact there's been no noise about any other visits suggests his mind is pretty well made up.2 points -
Iowa could never top that... their football program is a perennial also-ran! GBR I'm going on an official visit to a school that just happens to be honoring my dad that weekend for a national championship his team won when he went to that school. It'd be cool if I could just sign my LOI right then and there with my mom and dad present. Hey, dad, can I wear your championship ring while I'm on my visit? EM: Hey Shavon, whats it like playing at a school where you dad was a legend in football? SS: pretty f$%^ing cool man, you should play here EM: I will scene...2 points

It's nice to have people start to understand why I care about basketball and the jokes yes do run on, but hell I still read every post. I used to get basketball why do you even care we suck and will win that one big game at home. I get that people are going to joke around....but the problem is, there may be 1-2 post in the thread that stay on topic that some of us may miss as we have to read through 2-3 pages of "inside jokes". I love the fun spirit of the board, but when you get excited to read what you are hoping is some "news" about the topic, only to find pictures and music videos, or guys chit chatting back and forth about nothing to do with the topic at all....Maybe I'm in the minority here, just my $0.02. Sometimes I feel like its 2-3 best friends chatting away about their lives and their jokes on a Husker basketball board.1 point

Uh, can I humbly suggest they play this in lieu of Bon Jovi's "This is Our Town" before Husker basketball games? Like the HUSKER POWER chant, it would be uniquely Husker. No one else would be doing it. Our new place needs new traditions. The HUSKER POWER chant was a great start and this would keep the ball rolling.1 point -
We obviously do not have a very active football board (imagine that on a basketball site!) So I dedicate this one topic to all football recruits. The below article lists a commit to North Carolina coming in to see the Miami game. While he most likely wants to watch the game. (He is from Florida.) You never know what could happen once a recruit discovers that all of Nebraska is not sculpted out of corn. (The Corn Palace is in the Dakotas...where all thing really are processed from corn!) http://nebraska.247sports.com/Bolt/New-visitor-for-weekend-312378891 point

Season Ticket Renewals
Nebrasketballer reacted to 49r for a topic
Not so sure about that, season tickets were sold out last year and they are again this year. If anything the number of tickets available will remain unchanged. The only tickets available to the general public via the ticket office will be turn backs from visiting teams, so it should only be at most a few dozen tickets available through the ticket office for each game and probably only then will be made available shortly before game time. Now, the secondary market is a different story... Guys, you are reading "sold out Pinnacle Bank Arena" and thinking that means that we have 15,000 season ticket holders. That is simply not the case - at least last year (it's harder to predict this season). Last year, they received commitments for season tickets from a large number of Husker fans, but quite a few backed off when given the bill in August/September. In addition to that, they held back a number of tickets - well over 1,000 - for single game tickets that they never offered as season tickets in the first place. Even though it was quoted often, it was really not true to call PBA "sold out all season" or whatever I kept hearing. Am I the only one who noticed the empty sections of the 300 level in the exact same spots every game (except FGCU, Wisconsin, and 1-2 others)? Those were not season tickets. They were single game tickets available to be bought, but not sold. I do think that the scenario you are describing will be much closer to the truth this year. - A few "backed off" when the bill arrived in the summer last year, it was to be expected, and they filled those numbers in from the waiting list, just as they filled in the 3% of non-renewals from the waiting list this year - Big Ten rules require each team to make a certain number of tickets available to visiting teams and there are also tickets held back for players' families, press and corporate sponsors. There is no conspiracy by the AD to artificially claim a sell out, these tickets would be held back regardless...these sections total about a thousand seats - The empty seats in the 300 level that we all saw at some games were apparently student section overflow areas...I have heard no reports that can confirm or deny this, but it makes sense to me and it also makes sense to me that there may be students that would choose to watch the game from the concourse area on the north end rather than all the way up there if they couldn't get in to the seats in 100 level - It may also shock you to know that there are a number of people (myself included) who are season ticket holders that didn't manage to make it to every single game, limiting attendance to less than 15,000 in more than a few cases, but the tickets remained sold. It's a quaint concept I know, but it is the definition of "sell out". (okay, that last one was a tad over the top on the snarky side, but most people should be able to understand the difference between a sell out and a full house) At any event, the upshot of the deal is, there is no change in the number of season tickets sold from last year to this year. They're all sold. Ticket availability on the primary and secondary markets should remain pretty much unchanged. Higher demand games like Michigan State, Indiana and yes, even Creighton, should be very difficult to come by.1 point -
