This one hurts, and our inability to finish around the rim is maddening. Barring a deep B1G tourney run our NIT chances are slim. All that being said, this  has been a fun team to watch this year. The improvements have been tangible and real. All of the Freshman we had hoped would be Big Time contributors have been. Now let's get Shields and Morrow back and see what happens...

Thad Matta is a Grade A D-bag and graduated from a high school known as the Cornjerkers, (feel free to insert your own joke).

Makes one wonder how Barry Collier put up with him.

Matta has probably developed his petulant ways on the sideline as a Buckeye. lol ;)

I don't think he's thrown a water bottle across the floor, though.

True....Barry's one moment as a wild man. I was a witness to that one.... :D

I don't get how people can call this season a disappointment? We only returned Shavon, Benny, and Tai from our regular rotation last year. Tai and Benny were and still are far from elite players. Add in the four freshman that have been added to our rotation and I think this has been a successful and fun year. Our freshmen are talented and if they stay together will be a really good group.

I am super excited for next year. But even this season's team has a shot to finish with a winning record. Penn State and Northwestern are both winnable games, especially if Shavon is back. Northwestern is struggling and our post defense is much improved from the first time we played. Hell I even like our chances against an inconsistent Purdue squad on senior night.

If Shavon returns for Penn State I don't think we lose. He will come out blazing knowing that his career is coming to an end. Plus I think having him back will lift up the team and bring back some confidence (assuming they have lost any). If he still isn't ready to return I could see us coming out flat against Penn State who is on a mini win streak.

I don't think the entire season has been a disappointment but losing 7 games at home and 4 were to unranked teams has been disappointing.

There are at least two kinds of disappointment.  1.  Expecting going in to play a lot better than we have.  (Last year is a great example of this type)  2.  Expecting to win more games based on how we have played (This year is a good example of this type).

Remember that K-State debacle well.

I actually went to this game- flew in for my first game at PBA with my brother who is a freshman at UNL. Couple of observations:

1. Pinnacle Bank Arena is AWESOME. Phenomenal design and doesn't appear to be a bad seat in the house. We were in section 106 but looking around at that place was great. And it was LOUD at times. Went to Barry's and Longwells (i think?) before/after the game and it was a blast. Love visiting Lincoln- always a great time.

2. McVeigh is going to be an absolute stud. Random comparison but reminds me a lot of Niels Giffey from UConn a couple years back on their national title team. 3 and D guy at a high percentage from behind the arc who can guard the opposing teams bigs while causing nightmare matchup problems on O because of the 3 point shooting ability. If McVeigh develops a 3 point shot off the dribble forget about it- guy will be an all conference player.

3. Andrew White at times takes some really really terrible shots. It is what it is at this point.

4. It was glaringly evident without Shavon that we need another wing scorer. Hopefully this can be addressed next season and beyond through recruiting.

5. Glynn Watson- while he didn't have his best shooting night- is going to be a stud. Always in control and makes good decisions most of the time. I love Benny but Watson is a clear upgrade over him and is already showing why he was a top recruit.

6. Tim Miles- really good at creating mismatches through in game adjustments, and then at times leaves you with a "wtf" moment. Team seems to take after him with their play. No reason for the T Miles got and Lyle continuously would get the ball at the top of the key in the 1-4 look and go straight to the rim. No change in defensive philosophy Tim?

7. I love Nebraska fans but the people I sat next to didn't know a damn thing about the ins and outs of basketball. But they love their Huskers and support the team unconditionally and it is always fun to be in that kind of an environment. You can tell the fans want a winner here desperately.

8. I hope to be back to a game next year. Really great overall experience and it was very cool to see the growth not just at UNL but in Lincoln itself as well. Great overall experience.

Props to your brother for making the awesome choice of UNL and the city of Lincoln. As you note, great time to be living here.

Probably an easy choice to go to UNL considering his mom is, after all, a Husker legend.

OK, Norm.  Leave it to you to decipher what I meant, vs. what I typed.
