Everyone has refused to talk CBI hereto forth.

At 13-12 we need to win 3 more to secure a non losing season.

It is possible to get invited with a sub .500 record but not likely. I hope that if we can get to 16 wins miles would accept an invite.

On to Penn State. I have a feeling we get Shavon back for this one. Personally, I'll be happy with any postseason tourney. Send Shavon and Benny out on a high note and get extra games for the freshmen.

Speaking of CBI, there is a good chance both Nebraska and UNO could both be in it this year. As a fan of both teams I would love to see the match up. Of course would much rather see them in NCAA or NIT.

Colorado went to the CBI last year, and was the only team from a major conference to do so.

Before the game, however, the Buffs' best player, senior Askia Booker, told the coaches his career was over and that he wouldn't be playing in the CBI.

So there's that dynamic in play.

Sorry, but Shavon is not getting back for Penn State.

Would like to see Shavon go out on a high note...but considering we don't have much of a chance to dance...and the NIT looks doubtful...it's not the worst thing in the world that the young guys will be getting more minutes.

That would be cool.

Who do you see pulling something like that?

Not any individual, but as an institution and a member of the mighty Big Ten, will Nebraska feel it's above a CBI berth? I think we should take any invitation we get, but I don't know the athletic department's mindset.

With 5 freshmen on the team this would be the one year I think we'd consider playing in the CBI. It's going to be a struggle to get that far without Shavon.

The last time we thought NU might be inline for one, the "CBI seal" hadn't been broken. NU didn't want to be the one to do that. It has now. I don't think NU would turn it down if they were in that position. Just a guess, I could be wrong about that.

I'll admit I used to be against playing in one of the "third string" tournaments. I now think it would be wise for this team to do so, especially if Shields can not rejoin the team. And no one answered whether this was the tourney with a best of three championship. If it isn't, is that one still going on? I could probably look it up myself, but am too lazy.

The CBI and CIT are both best-of-three in the championship game.

CIT is mid-major only though, right?

That's correct.

Here are the postseason tournaments now:

Men:

NCAA (68 teams, single-elimination, regional sites/Final Four rotating city)

NIT (32 teams, single-elimination, regional sites/Semi and Finals in New York City)

CBI (16 teams, single-elimination except for best-of-three championship game, played on home team courts)

CIT (32 teams, single-elimination except for best-of-three championship game, played on home team courts, match-ups are reorganized every single round based on certain criteria)

Vegas16 (16 teams, TBD, all games in Las Vegas)

Women:

NCAA (64 teams, single-elimination, regional sites/Final Four rotating city)

WNIT (64 teams, single-elimination, played on higher seed's court)

WBI (16 teams, single-elimination, played on higher seed's court)

Total:

Men: 164 post-season teams (of 351 Division I programs)

Women: 144 post-season teams (of 347 Division I programs)

I have a feeling that the Vegas 16 is going to appeal to teams around our caliber who don't make the NCAA or NIT, but are in powerhouse basketball conferences. We'd probably see the likes of Nebraska, Creighton, Arizona State, Oregon, etc. types of teams in that tournament.
