The Sky Is Still There

For those who missed today's game, there's still some hope for the season. Sure, it wasn't a marquee opponent, but considering what we've seen the two games prior this was definitely a step up. Yes, there are skeptics, but let's enjoy this one!

I'm encouraged, basically because it's the best offense I've seen from us in quite some time.  When Shavon and TP combine for over 40 per game, we are tough to stop.

If we continue to pay hard a** defense...if/when Leslee returns...if/when Moses returns...if/when we start hitting our open looks...if/when we get back to high level free throw shooting...we are going to be okay.

“I saw progress over the three days. The biggest thing about having this tournament so close to the Big Ten is, yeah, it will take a little gas out of us. But the only way to get better is to compete. We’re going to get there, and we’re going to be a good team. This is going to be a really good team in February and March.”

Yup, first true road game for fairly young team. We have a real chance to bushwack them at home.

Well, I bet my nephew during our Christmas that NU would still win 8 conference games this season. So I'm remaining confident that this team pulls things together and makes a run to the big tourney.

The bet may only be an order of wings at The N Zone but I will gladly pay it. We were quite a few cocktails in when we made the bet and it may have turned into the tab for the evening. And I still don't care. This team has talent Miles just has to figure out how to regain the form that got them going last year.

Absolutely.  Earlier this year he was (well without calling him out) playing kinda lazy.  As a result, he was reacting slowly and found himself reaching, getting into early foul trouble.  He seemed out of whack and it appeared to have created offensive and defensive hesitation. 

 

Starting with the Bearcat game, he started to play more aggressively and that has helped him on both ends of the court.

I purposely stayed away from this site for a few days knowing how some people would react to the first couple games of the Diamond Head. Plus now I'm back at work and I need something to do. It's nice to know the sky is still there.

Miles is right on with the crowd & performance. Crowd participation needs to be there, no matter the greatness of performance. The greater level of performance generally follows crowd enthusiasm & tradition. Can't get tradition until crowd steps up... it is a bit of a chicken & the egg!

Our five-point road victory over Florida St. is looking pretty salty tonight: Florida St. knocked off Florida tonight 65-63. Additionally, Cincinnati beat NC State 76-60 tonight on the road.

If only we could get a do-over on those two bad back-to-back home losses!

I'd be okay with just getting that Incarnate Word game back. I would have been much more content with 9-3. Or even 8-4 (with one of our wins being switched to a loss).
