Here is a list of the Big 10 recruits that are listed in the top 150.

Mich State

#24 Deyonta Davis 5* Forward 6'9"

#145 Kyle Ahrens 3* Guard 6'4"

Ohio State

#30 Austin Grandstaff 4* Guard 6'5"

#37 Daniel Giddens 4* Center 6'10'

#67 Mickey Mitchell 4* Forward 6'7"

#115 A.J. Harris 3* Guard 5'9"

Minnesota

#84 Kevin Dorsey 4* Guard 5'11"

Wisconsin

#94 Brevin Pritzl 4* Guard 6'3"

Penn State

#114 Mike Watkins 3* Center 6'9"

#119 Josh Reaves 3* Guard 6'4"

This should put things in perspective.  I keep hearing how well Nebraska is recruiting with the best arena and practice facility and yet the only member of the top 150 that we seem to even have a small chance of getting is Ed Morrow #104 4* Forward 6'7"

This doesn't make our recruiting look very good to me. 6 members of the top 150 listed above Morrow have already signed with Big Ten schools.

You obviously dont follow it that closely.

Nebraska has had recent visits by or future visits expected by (not including Morrow):

#85 Glynn Watson already said an official

#110 Alex Illkainen visited twice and maybe an official

#125 Samir Sehic mentioned NU should get an official

with some strong interest from:

#52 Jimmy Whitt

#150 KIpper Nichols

I would say let 3 months play out before posting this and see what actually happens instead of the woe is me card.

And to this part:

"This doesn't make our recruiting look very good to me. 6 members of the top 150 listed above Morrow have already signed with Big Ten schools."

This is the best league in basketball for a reason.  The major teams in it have done an incredible job of recruiting for decades and have amazing coaches with tradition rich programs behind them.  This wasnt happening overnight and we dont even know what will happen come signing day.  Just stop speculating the worst and just let it happen.  I'm pretty sure its been a VERY long time since there were 4 top 150 players that have visited NU twice or have an official visit planned.

Couldn't said it any better!!!!  Did you actually think we'd automatically be able to out-recruit schools like KU or Duke just because we built new facilities?  This coaching staff has not been in place that long and have done and incredible job to getting top kids to come take a look.  You can't have an attitude of "the sky is falling" everytime time a recruit doesn't come here.  I was never this excited about recruiting under Sadler or Collier.  I think TheKamdyMan's post nailed it.

I think both of them have a point.  Kamdy pointed out that it's early, but it's not all that early.  In fact, I think Kamdy pointed out last week that most of these top 150 players will be committed in the next month or two.

It concerns me when teams like Penn St are signing folks early and we aren't.  Maybe this will all be a mute point a month from now, who knows.  It wouldn't surprise me at all if we go another year without signing any top 150 players and it won't be the end of the world if we don't.  Miles deserves as much time as he needs to get the program turned around.  But I'm definitely not ready to proclaim that we've turned recruiting around in Lincoln until we start signing some of these people.

Thats why I said wait for signing day to start this topic.  What happens if 2 or 3 of these guys end up here.

Penn State got some great kids that are local to them to sign on.  Wish NU had talent that close.

I was not trying to be negative just trying to tell you how things stand at the present moment.  I, too, hope we land a few of these recruits but so far we have not.  I hope I have to eat my words.  I just think that sometimes we have to look at things as they are and so far we have not gotten one of the elite.  I, in no way, am questioning Miles coaching ability, in fact I believe he is one of the better Big Ten coaches.  I think the jury is still out on our ability to draw the very best into the fold though.  When that happens, I will be the first to change my mind and will be graciously eat all the sour grapes that you can throw at me.  I am a bit older than most if not all of you and have waited a very long time for things to change so I am a bit more apprehensive than you young whipper snappers.

It would be great if we could recruit like Ohio St and Mich does.  But we can't, and we probably never will be able to.  I don't like the though of carrying over 2 scholorships over to this year(1 if we get White)....and if we do carry over 2 I'd consider that a pretty big fail.  At the same time, I don't want to fill our class just to fill the class like some of our past coaches did.  I will be worried if come November we don't have any commits.  With that said, Miles track record suggest that he knows how to not only spot talent but also develop talent. I don't get all that worked up in regards to recruiting rankings.  IMO it's a crap shoot with pretty much any kid outside the top 50.  We need a coach that can identify talent who can play in the Big 10 and a coach that gets the most out of his kids.  I think we have that in Miles.

2 years ago we were recruiting 3 and 4 stars, as we are now.

Probably more in range of 2 and 3 stars players as opposed to 3 and 4 star players.  I don't believe Sadler or Collier even sniffed a 4 star player and/or got them to visit.  I have totally faith in Miles and the coaching staff that they know what they are doing and we'll see some good results come November signing period.

We may have been recruiting them 2 years ago, but that was nowhere near "as we are now." The difference between interest and visits from highly-rated recruits between then and now is like the difference between night and day, the difference between up and down, the difference between a steep ascent and stuck-in-the-mud.

And the recruiting improvements are quite apart from the fourth-place finish in the B1G last year with whatever recruits (apparentlly they were either bad or terrible, according to some posters on this board) Doc and Tim had managed to muster--and that was against all those four-star-laden teams for which we all apparently pine . . . not to mention the final-16 and final-four teams we beat last year!

It's not quite, "Oh, woe is us," anymore.

Agau? I actually think - crazy as it is - that some sites had Alonzo Edwards as a 3 and 4 star.

I agree with this sentiment. I just disagree when people make it sound like the previous administration was ONLY recruiting against teams like Maryland Eastern Shore.

Sounds right.

OK, so if the difference between "interest and visits" is night and day, how would you describe the difference between commits and signed LOIs?  Night and dusk?

That's pretty funny, Norm.

Let's just say that the serious Nebrasketball recruits this season are considerably more star-spangled than before, whether that's at dawn's early light or at dusk or twilight's last gleaming or at midnight.

I think last season gained us attention, and the new facilities show commitment. Beyond that, sustained success is needed to really boost our recruiting. We recruit well nationally in all other sports, but the difference is they have successful programs. There are a lot of talented kids who want to play for a winner, but very few who want to "build something" at a traditional doormat.

If we follow up last season with another top 4 BIG season, then that perception changes and we'll see better results in recruiting. But the fact that we still have two 2014 scholarships shows we haven't really moved the needle much on recruiting.
