Norm Peterson Posted May 14, 2014 Report Posted May 14, 2014 The drift I'm picking up is that the university put out an announcement (apparently) that if anyone leaves a bike locked to a university bike rack after a certain date, the university will come around, cut the lock and take the bike. The "defense" of these enterprising young athletes apparently is that it was after the date that the university said the bikes would be removed. And so they got busy and removed the bikes for the university? Y'know, just helping out, right? Scientists have apparently yet to find a cure for stupidity. Hooper 1 Quote

jimmykc Posted May 15, 2014 Report Posted May 15, 2014 If these were cars which the police were going to ticket, impound and sell, would they also be considered fair game for anyone who knew how to jump start them? Some of these bikes may have been valued as much as a junker car. And who can say whether the owner might have picked them up by May 21? This crime shouldn't require incarceration since these appear to be pretty good kids, but it also doesn't merit a bunch of adults trying to justify the deed because the perpetrators are gifted student athletes.
