Please don't say Ray G. & Co. Instead, say Petteway and Co.; Ray Gallegos severely upset me on Sunday.  Am I the only one that though he was pouting and playing lethargic?  Pretty sure he was upset he didn't start. Just food for thought.

#GATA, sorry to say Ray G & co. when you wanted me to say Petteway & co…. In reply to your post however, no, I didn't think Ray pouted or played lethargic, in fact, I thought he was our best perimeter defender. The one bucket Harris scored on him, Ray was right in his face with a hand up. His shot didn't fall at all and yes that is frustrating.

Also, not to sound like a hater but if anyone on our team plays 'lethargic' its Petteway. 98% of the time he plays super hard and gets after it but he is the player who pouts, shows bad body language and can be seen not hustling back in defense after a bad shot or turnover.

I understand it's easier to overlook that when he is scoring 18 ppg but the tape doesn't lie.

I love Petteway, I love Ray G, I love this entire team.

Personally, I still feel like RG will get hot from deep and carry us to a win before he leaves here...

Bold statements, but to each his own. I've been waiting for him to get hot all year.  I hope you're right.  It would be good to see a senior torch the nets at The Bank.

That is the thing Section.  We need Ray to be hot more than one game from here on out.  He has had one game I can remember that he played well.  He got beat on a drive and then committed a stupid foul late that got MSU back close.  Thank goodness for Petteway to bail him out.

Ray is what I call a WOW player.  He lights it up one game and everyone says "WOW" forgetting the 4 or  5 games in between the WOWs where he disappears from the box score.

Couldn't agree with you more.  I'm not hating on Ray, but he has been a let down this year.  I really thought he would've turned it up.  Yes, I do realize we are a different club and he isn't getting as many touches, but it's been a little disappointing.  Still hoping he can play consist for the final games.

There was a picture after the MSU game in the LJS where Shavon is running back to toward the NU bench as the game ends and Tai is coming out to greet him with a big smile on his face and extended hands.  Other players are following Tai, each looking excited and happy.  And then Ray is in the background with a sort of blank expression on his face.

That struck me as odd, but I didn't give it much thought.

Until you said you thought Ray was pouting and playing lethargic(ly).

Ray can be a good shooter and he can help us out on the offensive end, no question about it.  After Hawkins blew the inbounds just before half against Illinois, it was Ray who got the next inbounds, drove it hard and fast to the rack and scored to give us a 1 pt lead at half against Ill.  And he's played pretty solidly good on-ball defense all year long although I remember the play against MSU where he gave up dribble penetration and then fouled.

Maybe he was a bit unhappy about not starting.  Hopefully he responds to that demotion the same way David Rivers did to his.

I've said since this last summer that I thought Gallegos should be coming off of the bench. He is a volume shooter and wildly inconsistent, which can be problematic to have in your starting lineup. I like Gallegos, but I think that people have greatly overestimated his shooting proficiency.

It is somewhat revisionist history to only credit Gallegos with the games that he shoots 4-of-6 from the 3point line, while ignoring the fact that most games, he makes 0-2 3s per game.

That being said, Ray does have the potential to catch fire and go off for 4-of-6, or 5-of-7 from the 3point line, so I hope he can do that at some point before the end of this season. Maybe vs Wisconsin for his Senior day? Or maybe one of the 2 road games vs Illinois or Indiana.

I think Nebraska will be fine vs Penn St, Purdue, and Northwestern, if they show up focused and play the way they have throughout this entire season at home. It would be nice to get that extra spark from Gallegos when Nebraska plays Wisconsin, at Illinois, or at Purdue.

It seems to me that we are going to need Rey to get it going to maximize our potential.  We are very close to not having enough scoring out there with some of these lineups.  Very fine line to walk with Rey.  He is very capable of turning this around.  I hope like hell he can, as he can make a huge difference spacing the court.

Do I wish he was playing/shooting better? Absolutely, but we don't know everything that is going on. What I do know is he has been here for 5 years, done whatever has been asked of him and is giving really solid minutes (Him and Shields have been great team defenders even when they haven't been scoring).

I will continuing rooting for and respecting his effort until I see otherwise

GBR!!!

I will have to say, I liked the play that Miles chalked up having Pitchford drive it inside (when MSU thought he was going up for the 3-point play). I would like to see us spread our offense out more enabling us to drive to the basket more often. We've been able to do it a few times, and we've been successful at getting to the line as a result.

Red Zone is going to start the "Husker Power" chant right after the national anthem.

Are there going to be students/cheerleaders with signs on each side to get the chant going?  I'm not worried about the student side...my concern is more with the big donor side.

I'm hoping we can pull this off because I think this could be a pretty awesome tradition.

Another thing also....I sit in Section 101 behind the basketball hoop, and nobody (or very few) from our side participates in the "Husker Power" chant.  It might be worth having signs on each end to get everyone in the arena involved.

I'm told it's in the works
