is DeShawn Freeman still a possibility?

To my knowlwdge he hasn't attached to anyone yet.  It appears Tulsa, Rutgers, Tennessee, ASU and Eastern Carolina offered him with Western Kentucky, Rhode Island, Auburn and VA Tech looking at him.

I'm assuming it's highly unlikely, but with a couple of 'ships open for 15-16 now, any chance Pinder tries to get here a year early? Highly doubtful as he would've had to carry a high academic load in anticipation of this possibility, but just wondering if there's any chance he could accelerate things academically this summer.

Then again, with NU hoops' luck over the years with trying to get guys qualified in odd recruiting circumstances, maybe we'd just better wait another year and make it a standard JuCo situation.

He has to get his associates degree first. I don't see him completing the 60+ hours in one school year and summer. That would be one incredible school load for someone that couldn't get what was required done in 4 year of Hs and one year at a prep school.

I thought there was a rule that you could leave a JUCO early if you didn't 'have' to go to JUCO in the 1st place...

There is like AT replied but there is a reason he is at a JUCO right now, because he couldnt get eligible.  If he was qualified out of HS or prep school but chose to attend a juco to get more playing time or exposure he could have jumped to a 4 year school no problem.  But if you dont qualify out of HS you must obtain your associates degree before he can transfer.

Does anyone know anything more about Pinder's status? IIRC, Pinder originally signed with Nebraska after attending Sunrise Academy, but was placed in a JUCO (by mutual consent) because of grade issues, with the thinking that he would come to Nebraska after getting his associates degree (if we still wanted him).  Is he anything more than a verbal commit at this point; that is, could he open up his recruiting if other Div-1 programs started showing interest?

If that is so, do we have any insight on his relationship with the coaching staff (was it Harriman who was responsible for his going to Sunrise and then to JUCO)?

No, Sunrise is the high school and Hutchinson is the juco.

That's too bad, NU could really use a big body (however raw he may be) to able to play for 3 years instead of just 2. A shot-blocker & defender would hit the spot for 2015-16. Oh well, guess we'll see how the recruitment plays out for Pinder for the next year.

Pretty low odds Pinder makes it here now. We'lll see.

What makes you say that? Is there some news that hasn't made it to this board yet?

Just because he's always been Harriman's recruit and he hasn't signed a LOI. We'll see but him not flipping to New Mexico would be a shock.

Would not be a shock...and I'm not so sure it would be a bad thing.  Pinder really hasn't done anything to this point to show he is a high-major prospect IMO.
