Is there any chance we have to worry about Illinois getting involved with Morrow? I've read that Illinois has a bunch of 4 star kids lined up to visit there and as of now really hasn't gone after Morrow. But I've also read if they can't get any of those 4 stars to pan out for them they could go after Morrow as a backup plan. Not sure how much merit that has but it'd sure be nice to get him to pull the trigger for us when he visits Lincoln or shortly after. I also tend to think Illinois would be more attractive to him than Iowa. Hopefully, it's too late in the game for them to jump in with Ed.

Morrow doesn't have very strong roots in Illinois. They just moved there a couple of years ago so that he could play at Simeon. I just don't feel that they have any real advantage over other regional programs.

They have his teammate, a fellow 4 star, DJ Williams already in the fold.  I think that no offer to Morrow at this point with the easy connection there with DJ would really hurt Illinois' chances of getting in late because it shows they dont hold him in as high of regard, especially for an in-state guy.  He's also said from the beginning he would consider teams that came on this summer but really would hold the teams that have been on him since day one would be held in higher regard.  I think its a two horse race with one way out in front and that horse is close to the finish line.

I don't think Ed missed a shot and had a couple of sick dunks.  Unfortunately, he got in foul trouble, but what an effort against the probable #1 NBA Draft Pick next year.

He is 6'7" correct? Very smooth and seems to work very hard even if there isn't much d in those games. I think he would fit very well here.

I agree, Decay.  And, in college, for PFs, I'm a lot more concerned about the size of the fight in the dog.  Within reason, obviously.  I mean, a very determined 5'7" kid is never going to make a decent PF in college hoops.  But a 6'7" kid with some attitude?  Heck yes.  I like the way he can handle the ball.  I like his aggressiveness going to the hoop.  He has A++ athleticism.  I'd like to see what the range is on his jumper.  His FT shooting seems to suggest he's a kid with good touch and so the outside or mid-range shots can be worked on.  But this kid is a must-get for us.  Love what he brings to the table.

Would fit Miles system perfectly.  Athletic enough to hedge ball screens and recover.  I love the quick 4 man.  I want him to be quick and agile enough to offensive board or be able to stretch the court.  He may be able to do both in time given his reasonably smooth free throw stroke.

I'm not super concerned over his height. A lot of Chicago people think he is top 50 good, but the height is what keeps him from that, if he was 6 9 or 6 10 he is a legit NBA type prospect. Watch his film compared to a guy like Henry Ellensen who is a top 20 kid. Ed has a great PF college game and will play immediately.

I just love how mean he is.  He plays the game the right way.  He has a very high around-the-basket IQ.  Freak athlete, yes, but also looks like he has super intelligent instincts.  He's a step ahead, mentally, when he finishes. 

 

Also, no Twitter, etc.  He doesn't seem to care about superficial attention like a lot of recruits. 

 

The Nebraska fan base would absolutely love him.

Ed also has impressive footwork in the post.  Doug McDermott isn't the biggest guy either, but his post footwork is tremendous.  If you watch Ed's highlights and his game against Okafor, he seems to have some of that same ability.

I clicked on Morrow's Rivals page and noticed one of his "similar forwards" was Justin Patton. I found that interesting.

That is interesting.  I would also love to hear somebody who has watched Patton play compare him to the videos we've seen of Morrow.  Per the rankings, Patton is the much better player.  Is that what our eyeballs tell us?  I've never seen Patton so I can't comment on him, but Morrow is legit - and doing it against great competition.

Patton also shut down recruiting.  Had he not done so I would bet his offer list would be similar in manner after the summer.
