We'll also make trips to Indiana and Michigan...and Michigan St. and Ohio St...

I think what he meant to say is "#Nebrasketball will play at least three Sweet 16 teams next season in Lincoln: Miami, Indiana and Michigan."

http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=207664760&DB_OEM_ID=100

"Nebraska’s Big Ten home slate at Pinnacle Bank Arena will feature six of the seven Big Ten teams which made the NCAA Tournament in 2012-13, including NCAA runner-up Michigan, Big Ten regular-season champion Indiana, Big Ten Tournament champion Ohio State, NCAA qualifiers Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin, as well as Northwestern, Penn State and Purdue.

On the road, Nebraska will make trips to Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State and Purdue.

With today’s announcement, Ohio State becomes the fourth NCAA Sweet 16 team from last year scheduled to play at Pinnacle Bank Arena during the 2013-14 season."

If you look at it, it could be a pretty favorable schedule.  You most always have a chance to win at home, but look at the road games, and there are some that we could win and some that we could steal.  That is good news for us if we can take care of business at home and during the non con.

Wowser...no question there has been a significant schedule upgrade.  Wow.

That is an understatement as Miles is putting together a very nice non-conference schedule.  That was the problem with Sadler is he never wanted to schedule tough teams and put another loss on the record.  He wanted to play as easy of schedule as he could and try to get enough wins to get in tournament.  Miles understands you need wins as well but strengh of schedule is alot a huge factor to get in tournament also.  It's very cool to start seeing a more challenging non-conference schedule being put together.

The best part about this...is that there are some nice names and practically no patsies...but the schedule isn't exactly a beast.   In particular, FGCU and Miami, both have a lot of cred going right now based on last year, but will very likely not be near the caliber of teams they were in March of this year.

The name won't matter if they end up sucking though for rpi purposes unfortunately. Can help with our brand recognition early on though.

I agree with this statement generally speaking, but FGCU, Miami, and Cincinnati will all have solid RPI ratings.  Even if FGCU and Miami aren't the caliber of teams that they were this last season, which was Sweet 16 caliber, they will still be legit teams.  They will all likely have 20+ wins, they will all likely make the NCAA Tourney (or at the very least they will be on the bubble), and they will all likely finish in the top 2-3 of their conference standings.

A couple of wins against these teams would help Nebraska's brand recognition early, and then Nebraska's RPI late in the season.

Looks like we get UMass for our first game in Charleston...

Love it.

This is yet another game that should help Nebraska's RPI next season.

Last season, UMass finished 6th place in the A10 and 4 games behind 1st in the standings.  With Butler and Xavier leaving for the new Big East, Umass should have a legit chance to contend for a conference championship and will probably finish in the top 3-4 in the standings.  That means they should be able to rack up alot of wins.  Again, more good news for the Nebrasketball schedule.

Last season:

UMass: 21-11 overall (9-7 conference)

By God, if there is ONE thing that Creighton's move to the Big East better produce is the ability to watch the damn game on some form of viewable television.

Money's on Fox Sports 1 for that one.

The games in Omaha have been televised for years.

It is the games in Lincoln that have occasionally not been televised.  It probably should be pointed out that Nebraska had the rights to those games, not Creighton.  ;)

I think you are missing that quite a few of the members here live outside the state of NE.

I live in Omaha so a game on KMTV or NET covers my viewing....but not the members in Colorado, Texas, California, etc.

You are going to be on a much larger viewing agenda...embrace it!

I am not worried about Creighton broadcasting the games in Omaha.  It was always televised before and Creighton didn't even have the TV options it has going forward.

Nebraska is the one that needs to step up when it comes to broadcasting the games.

By the way, all games on NET are streamed on the internet in high def for free.

My comments are not a put down to CU, rather it is an acknowledgement of CU stepping up to a higher level...

Below is the media that broadcast the last CU v NU game according to Creighton's athletic site:

The same media broadcast the previous CU home game in the 2009-2010 season....so the point was how was the video getting to our members outside the Omaha area with one local TV and one radio station supplying the only coverage?

You are so defensive, that you can't accept the acknowledgement of CU getting the upgrade in conference...but face it...it ain't exactly a "been there done that" TV deal for CU.

I am one fan who will be glad for the extra coverage, as I frequently like to watch and cheer for CU on TV...and I have no reason not to root for them except for once (or occasionally twice) a year.

As for the NU upgrade you suggest is needed...Last year NU had all but 2 games (where the Sun Bowl Invitational owned the rights) on either an ESPN or BTN national channels at worst.

CU had nine games covered by radio ONLY...and many more with the local radio affiliate and video on KMTV ( the local TV partner) only....Your alums on the coasts rarely got to watch.

Your future broadcasting will be in line with what major conferences do....which was the point 49'r made ...in way less time than I took here.

Living in Kansas City, there has been no option to view the NU-Creighton game played at Century Link more times than not.  KMTV is not available outside its DMA, and NET streaming is only available to those living in Nebraska.

Creighton's media deals back in the Valley days were downright horrible (from a national standpoint) and not that I really ever care to watch their games, because I don't, but the hope is that the move to the Big East should put them on Fox Sports 1 for probably all of their home games (which would presumably include the games against NU in Omaha).

Trickey is correct.  Even "lowly" Nebraska had all but two of their games last year on national TV of some sort.  There is no stepping up of our media game here.  We don't rely on some lo-def local feed for most of our home games.

Creighton Fan, you're out of your element here.
