I’m ashamed to say I haven’t seen the Ladies play since they beat UCLA at the Barn on their way to the Final Four. I guess our facilities & weather only apply to the Men’s programs… Keep it up Lady Huskers!!!

We have never made it to a Final Four in women’s basketball.

True, but if my memory serves me we were a #1 Seed & entered the Tournament with only one loss… For what it’s worth Kelsey Griffen is the best female player I ever saw in person & that includes Lindsey Whalen.

Correct.  #1 seed.  Won the regular season title, undefeated.  Lost in the Big 12 tournament.  Made the Sweet 16, ran out of gas against Kentucky.  Made another Sweet 16 2-3 years later, plus a Big 10 tournament title.  Then, Eichorst.  . 😩

They used to be formally called the Lady Huskers, but they're not any more. Didn't mean to start anything.

No worries.  Just curious if it mattered saying it one way or the other.

Do you refer to  men's team as the gentleman huskers.  They have not been the Lady Huskers for thirty years. They are the Huskers

Of course I don't say the gentleman huskers but you can't just call both the men's women's team the Nebraska Huskers.  If we just say the Nebraska Huskers are undefeated right now, I might think that Fred deserves a raise.  I hear the local media as well as other people call them the Lady Huskers all the time.  It's not wrong to say note which gender team you are referring to.

I refer to them as the womens team.

The media has been told not to refer to them as the Lady Huskers.  Of course the media are idiots as some of you believe.  Sam M of the World Herald, who is the best women's columnist, never refers to them as Lady Huskers

When I have discussions, and if we need to clarify, we will typically reference as mens or womens team.

Interesting topic as it transcends Nebraska sports.  For example, you have the PGA Tour and the LPGA Tour.  Why don't we have MPGA and LPGA?  OR, both could simply be PGA.  I don't know anymore.  Political correctness sometimes confuses me.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but the PGA and LPGA are completely different governing bodies. However, something like the NBA and WNBA, I believe the NBA has ownership in the WNBA.

NFL is a brand as much as AFC and NFC. Should a male, female, et. al. want to play in the NFL, it's still a the NFL. If a competing league wants to form, they can call it the WNFL or the NFL+ (and probably be sued), or brand it something entirely different.

For instance, in the US, we have the MLS and the NWSL.
