2021 Transfer SZN

If you walk outside in the morning, the air is crisp and you can feel that members of the Nebraska basketball team are ready to transfer out to open up scholarship opportunities.  It's Transfer SZN.

 

 

Battle also happens to be from the Minneapolis area

6-7 lefty with a little heft, but his offensive game is cutting and shooting from deep, not inside, though he's a decent rebounder as well.

Battle is kind of interesting in that his freshman year he was basically a 3pt specialist and in the 15 games he played in this year (GW's season was limited) he took half from 2, half from 3.  I think it was a combination of GW needing him to takes guy off the dribble and/or him having worked on that ability.

 

Some of this might be his role or the offense but his assist % numbers make Teddy Allen look like Steve Nash; this dude was either shooting or tossing it around the perimeter when he touched the ball.

Here's guessing we will see a bajillion (give-or-take a few hundred million) of these "heard from Nebraska" texts over the coming months.

What would be interesting to know is this: do we already have some transfer targets mostly nailed down through back-channel discussions?

In the past one could figure out who was serious by who took a visit to your campus. Maybe that will again happen this spring/summer.

From the sounds of it, any transfer we might be able to pick up could play right away.

This one was one I noticed right away. Seems to fit right into what they want on offense.

10 games, seven starts, 11.7 ppg, 6.1 rpg and 4.7 apg, with 2.6 TO per game.

6-6 guard, shot 44 percent from deep, and only 41 percent from inside the arc. 76 percent from the line.

Hometown is in Kentucky.

I haven't heard anything.  My post was referencing the transfer waiver that the NCAA is going to vote on that wouldn't require anyone to sit out.

He's 3 inches shorter than Cookie Miller.  I hope he doesn't go anyplace where Doug Gottlieb calls games or he might get labelled a punk.

 

I remember watching his dad, who was an outstanding player, play a couple times at GW.  I made a point of it since he was 5'4" and when he was a junior had a 7'1" teammate - not quite Muggsy and Manute, but close.  (Ironically, they lost in the NCAA tournament that year to Oklahoma State and Doug Gottlieb.  Maybe that's where Gottlieb's hatred of short people began.)

Read that UK contacted him immediately after he went into the portal.  He was a top 100 kid coming out of high school I believe.

 As noted that’s football but I actually talked to him one time for work. Really nice kid and talked a little football. He was HS teammates of Rahmir Johnson so he was very respectful of Nebraska.
