So this us a list of all the D1 colleges in states that border Nebraska plus D1 colleges in Oklahoma. Assuming (not so secretly hoping) 16 teams will be included one could create a hell of a tournament from this list 😀

The 13 conferences represented in this include enough diversity that there'd be little risk of matching up conference opponents, but if you extended the invitations to schools in Texas, you could add three more conferences and have one team from each conference:

  1. Pac 12
  2. Big Ten
  3. Summit
  4. Big Sky
  5. Mountain West
  6. Missouri Valley
  7. Big XII
  8. American
  9. Big East
  10. SEC
  11. WAC
  12. Atlantic 10
  13. Ohio Valley
  14. Conference USA (UTEP, UTSA, Rice, UNT)
  15. SWAC (Prairie View, Texas Southern)
  16. Southland (Incarnate Word, Abilene Christian, Houston Baptist, Lamar, Sam Houston, Stephen F. Austin, Tx A&M-CC)

Maryland hoops announcer Johnny Holliday was on 93.7 last week & said he is under the impression from the MD point of view that the B1G is still unsure whether it will allow non-con games, other than, it appears, the ACC challenge, so everyone is in limbo regarding non-con games until something is decided at a league level. Hope we don't miss our window to host something because of continued indecisiveness.

Sounds like a Warren thing to do.  I’m sure once Nebraska announced we’d like to host a tournament, Warren was like “well I don’t know if we’re going to play non-con games, and your double plays next year will be MSU, OSU, Michigan, and the Globe Trotters.”

Per John Rothstein twitter...

Sources: Elevate Hoops (@elevatehoopscbb) will be hosting an MTE in Lincoln, Nebraska that features Nebraska, LSU, Northern Iowa, Nevada, Illinois State, & Cleveland State. More teams will be added. A burgeoning event to monitor during college basketball's "Golden Window".

KenPom 2020 rankings for the teams we know:

37 - LSU

49 - Northern Iowa

85 - Nevada

162 - Nebraska

220 - Illinois St

313 - Cleveland St

Asked someone who would have a good idea and it doesn't sound like UNO will be a part of it.

Thanks for checking, that is to bad. Would like to see them get exposure, hopefully DH can get them to take the next step as I enjoy watching them play.

Hope they can add UNO would be good for them too

I like UNO but would prefer not to have teams like them in tournament.  I'd rather have as many big name schools as we can get.  I'm sure it would be good for UNO but glad to hear they won't be involved.

While I agree with you I would gladly substitue UNO for Cleveland St.

agreed, if there are going to be small schools and it appears there will be it might as well be them and help the local kids.

Per OSU’s twitter the event is officially called “The Golden Window”.. No idea what that means but yeah. There it is.

Makes sense that the school that managed to get on NCAA probation is the same one that inadvertently blurted out the name of the tourney

I’d be ecstatic if we got to play OK State.  The #1 pick in the 2021 NBA draft is Cade Cunningham’s to lose. He’s one of the most impressive high school prospects I’ve ever seen. 6’8” 220 lb point guard. A Banton vs. Cunningham matchup would be fun.
