red but after getting to watch Gesell and Woodbury play today both need a lot of work to be big time Div 1 players.  Gesell looks good running the offense but still can not create a shot for himself this level.  Woodbury moves well up and down the floor and passes well but is painfully slow after catching the ball when he is trying to make a move.  Hammons is clearly ahead of him at this point.

then you haven't watched enough of Gesell play this year.  He can absolutely create his own shot.  He has a very quick pullup (just like Gallegos does).  I would agree with you on Woodbury as he has been a little disappointing but Gesell has been extremely impressive for a freshman.

kldm64 as stated, first time I have gotten to see him play, not impressed with that part of his game today.  He may develop or be better than he showed today.  I have a sample size of 1 right now.

Again, I wish both of the kids were wearing red and not pee yellow.

I would love to hear your thoughts on Parker and Vucetic if you think Gesell and Woodbury are struggling.

Granted they were thrown into a system that had laid its foundation a little bit.  They were not THE foundation.

Think they are struggling too.  Vucetic needs the weight room and Parker is not ready for the speed of the game.  Anymore questions?

Vucetic needs a lot of things but I disagree that Parker is not ready for the speed of the game.  And I disagree with those who question his defense.  The kid may be the best on-ball defender on the team.  He's able to fight through screens like no one else.  His problem isn't adapting to the speed of the game but rather his lack of offensive skills that translate to this level.

I mean if you do not feel that Parker would be a better player with better players around him (Pitchford, Petteway, Biggs, Webster, Fuller, Hawkins) that fit the same style, then why did Miles get him to come here.

Because out of the Sadler's recruit's, he felt Parker and Shields could play a key role for this team this year.  It's not like Parker is a Miles recruit

I think you're missing Tim's point...

I think we've already talked this through in some other threads.  I think this class of newcomers this year is Miles' class.  The general consensus was that Miles uninvited 3 jucos who had signed LOIs with us.  He unrecruited them and rerecruited the two freshmen that Doc had originally signed.  If Miles didn't want Parker, well, he could easily have cut ties with him just like he did with the juco kids.  Instead, he went down and visited the kid to make sure he was still committed.

Keep in mind that, at the time Miles went down to visit Parker and firm things up with him, we still had Corey Hilliard and we also had Biggs publicly asking for an offer.  So, it's not like Miles would have felt an urgent need to keep a PG that he didn't think would work out here.  The logical conclusion is that he brought Benny in because he wanted him here and felt that he would be able to contribute.  Period.

I'm a little worried about Parker transferring at the end of the year. His problem is not the speed of the game it's his size and with better players around him he will be better. He is lightning quick and I think has a role on this team after this year. His breakaway steals on Saturday were big plays (even though he missed one), big momentum plays. Hoping the kid stays.

THIS... Parker was a Miles recruit at Colorado State as discussed earlier.  Parker is a good PG, he just is not a difference maker.  As I said in another thread, there is a place for a guy like Benny on this team.  A guy who can do the little things right.

Before his foot/ankle injury and then his knee injury, Benny Parker was averaging 6.1 points and shooting 51.6% from the floor on 4.5 shot attempts per game. In the five games after those injuries, Benny averaged 1.6 points per game while shooting just 2-of-ten from the field. This is according to a turn-of-the-year article in the Journal Star. Hopefully, he's doing much better now on the injury front.

Perhaps, however, a bad wheel or two shouldn't be ignored in the discussions of Benny Parker!
