aphilso1 Posted January 6, 2017 Report Posted January 6, 2017 Supposedly he didn't play much last night due to a hip pointer. I'm curious if anyone knows anything more. Quote
HuskerBB Posted January 6, 2017 Report Posted January 6, 2017 Just know that they wrapped his lower back - hip up during the game - assuming they were putting ice or heat on it. That was early-mid in the 2nd half. I was thinking it was his back but it was pretty obvious he was done for the night (although wasn't noticeably limping or anything) He actually came in after that for the last 2nd of regulation just to guard the guy throwing it inbounds. Again did not seem badly hurt then - but that was all he played. Quote
REDZONEDAN Posted January 6, 2017 Report Posted January 6, 2017 I'm hoping it's nothing serious. We'll definitely need him. Quote
Norm Peterson Posted January 6, 2017 Report Posted January 6, 2017 I'm thinking he sustained a pretty badly bruised ego, considering the way Miles was working him over during a couple of timeouts. Row6Seat10 1 Quote
PimpMario Posted January 6, 2017 Report Posted January 6, 2017 Too bad to hear about Roby. I also thought it was weird how long it took Horne to get in. Quote

Huskerpapa Posted January 6, 2017 Report Posted January 6, 2017 Hip pointer was what was said. That type of injury is typically day-to-day. But Norm's observation was likely spot on as well for both Isaiah and Jordy. Silverbacked1 1 Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted January 6, 2017 Report Posted January 6, 2017 And I think that Isaiah is the designated whipping boy this year. He joins a long list at Nebraska that have stuck it out and have had really good/great careers. I believe Ryan Anderson would be the poster child for this honor. colhusker and Bugeaters1 2 Quote

hal9000 Posted January 6, 2017 Report Posted January 6, 2017 In his post-game radio interview my recollection is that Miles, after explaining why Roby sat for the 2nd half, said that they expect Roby to play Sunday. Bugeaters1 1 Quote

That may be because Roby still seems a little lackadaisical on the court? This is a kid who flat out dominated in high school and probably is a little shell shock at this moment. IMO, he will still end up playing an important role for this season and even with some of the limited minutes and issues he's working thru you can see he oozes talent. It will all come together sooner or later. Maybe even this year. Silverbacked1 1 Quote

He is very fast, but doesn't look like he is running hard. And when he dunks... Doesn't even look like he jumps, but wow poster shot jobs. So don't know which it is honestly. colhusker 1 Quote

You may be very right. Tie that to the minutes played by some of our players last night, and we will likely need to go nine deep for Northwestern. Jack may get more minutes along with the three freshmen. Quote

Kid has long limbs--his strides are huge. He's given great effort this year and played pretty fast for a true freshman, in my opinion. He's 6'8"--taller than Morrow, our PF, so he looks a little "stridy" when he runs while playing the three. BUT once he puts all that guard skill together with the height he's been blessed with, watch the hell out. Silverbacked1 and aphilso1 2 Quote

IMO Roby plays basketball the same way Vince Young played quarterback at Texas. Young never looked like he was trying hard, and yet he'd blow by defensive backs who *looked* way faster than him. Just a smooth operator. Fullbacksympathy, Silverbacked1 and Bugeaters1 3 Quote
aphilso1 Posted January 6, 2017 Author Report Posted January 6, 2017 Another cross-sport reference would be Ernie Els in golf. The dude is super tall with long arms and a silky smooth swing. When he swings a club, it looks like he only hit it 100 yards. Then you realize it actually went 280. Silverbacked1, bobcat402 and Fullbacksympathy 3 Quote

Getting chewed out on the bench means the coach expects you to contribute. Badge of honor for a freshman. Quote
Swan88 Posted January 6, 2017 Report Posted January 6, 2017 (edited) I thought Roby looked to be in pain last night. I saw him get up off the bench/chair during action on the court, walk to the end line (I thought he was heading to the locker room or to the trash can to vomit or something), but then he turned around, walked back and sat down. It seemed to me that he was in trying to deal with pain--but that's hard to tell from the stands. Edited January 6, 2017 by Swan88 Silverbacked1 1 Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted January 6, 2017 Report Posted January 6, 2017 You know something was up because he didn't see the court when he usually would. And he had the Ace wrap around the outside of his uniform which I think is a big no-no with the uniform police. Although the crew we had last night might not have made him take it off until there was a tip in. Bugeaters1 1 Quote
Huskerpapa Posted January 7, 2017 Report Posted January 7, 2017 I will voice one very real concern. Isaiah lost a big chunk of the preseason with a hip issue. I hope and pray that what occurred last night is not a reoccurrence of that problem. Bugeaters1, Silverbacked1 and brfrad 3 Quote
