PeltzFan12
Shavon played perhaps is best game (besides UNO) of the season today. Great to see!!!
49r
22 for both Shavon and Terran, Walt chipped in 9. Could the three headed monster be starting to wake from its slumber on Christmas???
PeltzFan12
Rivers and Tarin Smith both played well, I thought Smith played pretty heady ball for a true frosh out there. He's one of our best drivers/rim attacker's....right now I hope he's flying under the opposing team's radar a bit... Silverbacked1

Could the three headed monster be starting to wake from its slumber on Christmas???Didn't see the game, but the following line also seems significant:Tarin Smith: 19 minutes, 2-3 shooting, 1 rebound, 2 steals, 1 block, 0 turnovers, 7 points. Edit: Sorry, Peltzfan, for not seeing your post before posting this one.
Huskerpapa
I actually thought Shavon struggled a bit again today. He was better, but had bouts of inconsistency. I think he is going to have many better games in his future.
PeltzFan12
Tarin made his presence known. Overall, the Huskers had waaaaaay more energy today than the previous two games. They looked to be the aggressors, almost like they said "enough is enough" and played our style. It was nice to see. Silverbacked1

uneblinstu
I actually thought Shavon struggled a bit again today. He was better, but had bouts of inconsistency. I think he is going to have many better games in his future. I did too. He's struggled to hit that mid range jumper so far this year. When he's on, it's automatic and opens up that lane even more. He's a huge zone buster whenever teams want to do that. He easily could have had 10 more points yesterday.
HuskerCager
I think this deserves it's own thread. Let's pray for a quick and full recovery for Shavon - basketball or no basketball. PimpMario
I really hope Shields can make a full recovery. Shavon is Nebrasketball. Doesn't get better than that upstanding young man. First time I have ever got misty at a game.

bobcat402
Man that was scary, just got home from some youth basketball games turned the TV on to Shavon lying on the court, couldn't watch the replays, just so scared, only thing I can remember of recent to that situation was Zach Darlington getting knocked out in his high school game that was shown on ESPN right after he committed So glad Shavon has movement, thoughts n prayers for his recovery BjoeHusker and Silverbacked1
hhcmatt
Remarks from Nebraska Head Coach Tim Miles and Men’s Basketball Athletic Trainer R.J. Pietig after today’s game with Rutgers regarding Nebraska forward Shavon Shields, who was carted off the court midway through the second half of today’s game with Rutgers and taken to a local hospital. R.J. Pietig: Shavon Shields is at the emergency room right now, he’s about to start further testing. (It is) kind of the same status as when he left Pinnacle Bank Arena. He’s alert, he’s awake, has sensation in his hands and in his feet, and I guess at this time we don’t know too much other than we’ll be going for further testing and we just have to wait to see what comes from those.” Did he lose consciousness? Pietig: Yes he did. He was out roughly a minute, because when I got to the floor he was unconscious and once coach got there and Dr. (David) Clare arrived he came back to within a few seconds. Coach Miles: He didn’t recall anything that had happened. Was that his mom (who came out to the court)? Coach Miles: Yes, I asked his mom (Senia) to come out. He could move his arms and legs? Pietig: Yes, he had movement and sensation in his arms and his legs. On the court? Pietig: On the court, as well as off the court. Coach Miles: He didn’t move because we told him not to move, so he was just following directions. Obviously, you want to take as much precaution as you can in that situation so some people are like “he didn’t move, he didn’t move” well that’s because he was just following directions and it was for his welfare. hhcmatt
Update on Shavon ShieldsShavon Shields was conscious on his way to the hospital. He had a CT scan, which was negative. Shavon will follow UNL's concussion protocol. He has been dismissed from the hospital. Quote from Nebraska Coach Tim Miles“We are relieved and thankful Shavon has been released, and that his injuries aren’t more serious. We will follow the proper protocol to get him back to full speed. I know Shavon and his family are grateful for everyone’s thoughts and prayers.” unl
unl
This was the scariest thing I've seen at a sporting event. So glad he's doing okay so far. Is there an audio clip out of Kent and Matt? I feel like if they would have been talking while Shavon was down, I would have heard them. I was listening while on the road. I have never heard Kent so disinterested in a Husker game following that incident. You could really tell it was weighing on him. The crowd was absolutely silent. I was like wow this is serious. I think Matt and Kent had their voice crack as well. Bugeaters1
