    Shavon Shields

Fifty years from now this whole discussion will seem as archaic as debating the merits of using leather helmets for football. Meanwhile we should take Shavon out of our equation, try to squeak out 3 more wins and become a team no one is eager to play in the Big10 tourney.

    1-10 against RPI top 100

I wish Nebraska would schedule UNO some more. They played in Miles first and third season and they were really fun games to watch. Also Creighton, who played two or three teams from UNO conference this season, needs to man up and schedule UNO. You have a Summit League team that would love to play you basically in your backyard. Why pay to have Summit League teams come from hundreds of miles away.

  5. Fan's don't "deserve" anything. You're not putting any sweat or flesh into this project. I know we are talking about big money nowadays but we've come a long way from where college athletics (and high school) are supposed to be. The games are supposed to be for the players and we are just lucky that they let us in to get to watch. I can't stand to go to high school games and hear people yell at other people's kids the same way they would at a professional athlete when they mess up. Step back, breathe and enjoy the entertainment.

  6. Reason I added 'Win or Lose' Sounds like there'd be some company (at least 'stu & AH); we'd probably see you there too! We could (whether to celebrate; or commiserate)

I pray that's the case. But again concussions are serious business and there is no reason to rush or want shields to suit up again. Kids will always say they are ready to play.Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk That's true and they may have to lock Shields up. For as much as he has given to the program there's no doubting that he wants to get out there and play-he doesn't want to go out this way-throw away year or not. Yes, he has his future to consider but as far as his Nebraska career goes, this is it for him. I'm sure everyone involved will make the correct/safe calls.

  8. Could see him in noise canceling head phones if he makes it to the game Saturday. We use them here at school for some of our kids that have trouble with noise at assemblies.

  11. What a great series! Makes me wish I lived close-by; I'd be sure to try to make both games - never been to Allen Fieldhouse; and atmosphere @ 'The Vault' can be electric (think 2014 Wisconsin game). Win or Lose, this is quite a coup for Miles, et al (I think we'll be ready for 'em).

  12. Gard reminds me of Eichorst... vanilla puddings. And I wish we could have gotten Vitto to come here. We should have told him he could have sung all of the National Anthems for us if he wanted.

  13. He's probably had weight issues and he's one of those guys who has only been playing basketball for 3-4 years. I think he's a guy that takes a couple of years to be a major contributor if he comes here though you hope the whole process of bringing JH, EM, and MJ means that they're more capable of defending the post next year. If he was ready to be a 20+ minute player next year he'd be rated 5 stars.

  14. He only truly has weight problems if he fits snugly into that quad-XL #32 jersey we've had hanging in the equipment room for the past few years.

Why? Why put his health at risk on a lost season? That is absurd.Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk That is absurd. I'm not suggesting putting his health at risk at all. He needs to come back when he is fully healed. Not that I believe it would happen, but I was just saying that hopefully his return would be dictated by current concussion protocol (it sounds like it is) and not some lengthened experimental protocol based on the cutting edge research that is happening at UNL. I'm sure Shavon wants to get back out there if he can, as soon as he is safely cleared to do so.I am sorry but if you think current protocol is enough you haven't done enough research. If shavon was my son he wouldn't suit up the rest of the season.Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

  21. Nobody has claimed Watson yet, right? Because I call dibs on him if not. I like that kid; he's got a pretty bright future ahead of him.

  22. When I see some guy go flying when somebody bumps him like that, I want to follow him to the bar and just walk up and take his girl friend and just lip lock her, when he asked what the hell are you doing? I would just say dude as easy as I saw you get dropped in tonight's game I know you aren't going to do anything to stop me. Or something like that.

  23. I don't think we'll see the big invasion we've seen in the past when KU came to town. I think the NU ticket base is large enough now, having sold out the building for three straight years that there won't be a blue ribbon around the top of the arena. There will be more than most visiting teams, but it won't be like it used to be in the Devaney Center.

  25. *sigh* First game in awhile that I stopped watching. Frustrating. I've seen this same game it seems like 1000 times this year.
