Different sport obviously, but I just watched Draft Day, and it made me think of TP. For those who haven't seen it, a high character player who was kicked out of a game for giving a touchdown ball to his sister who had cancer and later dies goes from being a mid round pick to #1 overall. Now obviously he's not going #1, but I feel that once teams meet TP, work him out, hear what he's been through, and see what kind of person and hard worker he is, that he gets drafted. He's one hell of a baller who did things we haven't seen at Nebraska. I feel that some sell this guy way too short. When you look at the NBA, there are so many guys I never heard of in college who come from small schools. TP played against some of the best competition. I see his game translating tremendously at the NBA level. Thanks for all the wonderful memories Terran! Definitely my all-time favorite Husker! Best of luck wherever life takes you!

We need a big guy that can play right away next year. I would be okay with Hammond, Morrow, Jacobson(?) <- Reminds me of Stanhardinger and the Unknown Big. We need 3-4 players that can play down low. That makes it harder for teams to defend. If we only have 1-2 guys we will be pretty one dimentional

I don't know that lack of tournament success smack is exactly the best road to go down with Nova fans. We've beat a Final Four team two years in a row. We certainly don't sweat the likes of Villanova.

Tim Miles on Sports Nightly this evening: Really high on Jack McVeigh as a person. Super energetic, good length, needs some bulk. Says we got lucky on Bakari Evleyn. Said if he stayed in Michigan we probably wouldn't have had a shot at him. Will compliment Glynn Watson very well. On recruiting, obviously we'd like to get a big. Asked Greg Sharpe if he was available. Said they're open to anyone and everyone. Also looking at the possibility of a red shirt transfer who is good enough to play Big Ten Basketball in 2016. On Terran, said they had been discussing his long term plans since he announced publicly that his mother was dealing with cancer. They talked about "what could be" if he stayed, but ultimately said he supports his decision totally. On coaching the NABC game, sounds like he called a Christian Laettner type play at the end of the game, had a player on an inbounds play heave it down the court, another player caught it and touch passed it to a third player for an uncontested dunk to win the game. (Gonna have to see if I can find that on youtube).

So he's saying McVeigh has a great personality, huh?

Oh I believe that he will be granted all of those 7 years. I think that some people are jumping the gun on the warm seat so soon. Doc and Barry never made the tournament and lasted 6 years. He's got 2 more years before his butt starts to warm. Unless there is some sort of scandal or something super drastic.

Under Coach Miles the team has delivered one above expectations season, one far above expecations season (the best NU season in 2 decades), and one well below expectations season in the best conference in the country. Nowhere near enough to consider him on the hot seat or facing even a pivotal season. Certainly there have been some disappointments recently, but Coach Miles was given a 7-year contract for a reason.

IIRC, Nebraska finished in the top 15 in attendance in football, volleyball, baseball, and men's & women's basketball in the past year or two! (Perhaps both seasons, even)

Jays were in the top 10 as well. Says a lot for the fans in this state that they'd remain so loyal in such a down year. Here's to full stadiums and successful seasons!

But Next season is the pivotal season for the Tim Miles era.... Regardless what situation we are in right now for every basketball coach in the MAJOR CONFERENCE level yr 4 in your tenure is the make or break season rather your trending up or on the hot seat in season 5. It is what it is fellas.... I have been Tim Miles guy from day one but what has happened in 13 months since the lost Baylor is really disappointing and disturbing. How have we fallen so fast??? How do you go from winning 10 out of 12 and 4th in the toughest conference in College Basketball to 13 wins "13" no way does that happen to anybody. Now were in a situation where we need to relay on 3 or 4 Freshmen to start or play 25 mins in year 4 that should never happen. WE ARE NOT KENTUCKY that's way too much pressure on those kids coming in the play that amount minutes in the BIG TEN. Plus we are hoping that AW3 produces 18-19pts per game no way once again too much pressure for a guy that has not played that much. After looking over the last three years under Miles the first two recruiting classes really hurt Miles he made several mistakes and missed out on several Bigs over the years and now it really hurting us. (Mike Edwards, Deng Deng, Isaac Haas, Akoy Agau (Twice). Lets face it guys Jacob Hammond is still not ready I really don't know if he ever will be. What I just don't understand is how with all these misses in a big man that teams like Rutgers, Penn St, Northwestern..ETC end up with decent not great big man. I would kill for the Northwestern guy or I would love to have at least one those 7ft penn st guys. Wouldn't you??? Miles has needed a true center since day one he has yet to find one. Leslee Smith (No Knees) average at best, Moses No hands no real threat at all, Vucetic never played, Ubel Average. My intention is not to bash Miles at all I am just really worried we are slipping away into Barry Collier years and the goal is NIT. I dont want that for this program. The Good news is the Recruiting class from fall signing is very exciting and alot of potential for the future and Miles has got a good staff so we move on and hope that the freshmen coming in this year Gel and do the unexpected and reach the NCAA or at least the NIT.
