uneblinstu's postgame chatter : vol 17; ed 22-Oregon

It was a fun game.  Despite shooting poorly from the perimeter, we adjusted and kept our foot on their throat.  Their pressure also bothered us early  yet we adjusted well.

We were clearly the better team.  Great win.  

We now head up the coast and hopefully take care of business once again.

Two words needed.  Rollie Worster.  

Huge win. Super happy for the fellas. It was a tough losing streak that took a toll mentally - but they got out of it and now just need to ride this momentum 

Haven’t been able to watch much lately but so proud of the team! Get the W on Wednesday and keep it rolling! GBR!!!

Still a lot of work to be done.  Need to pick up another at Washington.

That end was probably closer than it should have been.  Not sure Berke should be taking a three early in the shot clock with 2:54 to go and 10-point lead.  Looking at the play-by-play it looks like 11 seconds but at the time seemed like 17 or something. 

10-12 on free throws in the last 2 minutes.  Great!

We cannot get complacent with a 15 point lead and play random lineups just because a guy or two have two fouls.  We can afford to take one guy out of a seven man core rotation into the half with three fouls.  Esoecially when one of them is a veteran and extremely important at breaking the press and making them pay for the press.  

The PA announcers never did get Berke's name right.  Also called Rollie [Ulis] at one point.  Makes me appreciate our PA announcer all the more.

*-With the win at No. 16 Oregon tonight, Nebraska has four wins over ranked teams which ties a school record for most ranked wins on the season. NU also had four ranked wins on three other occasions (1998-99, 1993-94, 1990-91).
*-Nebraska improves to 4-2 against ranked teams this season.
*-Nebraska has two road wins over ranked teams for the second time in the Big Ten era (also 2021-22).
*-Fred Hoiberg now has five ranked wins over road opponents at Nebraska, which ranks second among Husker basketball coaches.
*-Brice Williams finished with a game-high 28 points, his 10^th 20-point game of the season and 26^th of his career. Williams also grabbed seven rebounds and matched his season high with six assists (vs. North Florida, 12/1). Williams has now reached double figures in 20 of 22 games this season
*-Juwan Gary recorded his fourth 20-point game of the season with 23 points along with five rebounds. He has had four of his seven career 20-point games this season.
*-Nebraska had multiple 20-points scorers for the fourth time this season and 16th time in Fred Hoiberg’s six seasons at Nebraska
*-Nebraska shot 51.0 percent from the field, the first game NU has shot over 50 percent since Dec. 25 against Oregon State.
*-Nebraska held Oregon to just 40 percent shooting, the 11^th opponent held to 40 percent or lower this season.
*-Berke Büyüktuncel led Nebraska with nine rebounds, matching his career high set four other times.
*-Rollie Worster finished with 11 points off the bench, the 22^nd double-figure effort by a Husker reserve this season. Worster was 4-of-4 from the field tonight.

What this team woulda been with a 4 that could shoot and another shooting guard 

Couple things that stood out to me. Much more emphasis placed on finding Morgan on the roll to the basket. Helps he finished them.

The effort on the offensive glass seemed better. It allowed for some hustle plays.

There wasn't a sense of panic. It was a pretty focused group. Hopefully they continue to build confidence.

Speaking of which, did everyone notice we had a new PA Announcer for the Illinois game??? Wasn’t sure if the regular guy was just sick, or if it’s a permanent switch?

I think that guy has done the state high school championships, not sure what the deal is, though.

And, if that JUCO rule had been in effect a year sooner, NU would also have potentially had Keisei Tominaga another season. Double sigh.

The regular PA announcer James Kyhn had lost his voice so they asked Drew Denker to fill in.  Drew also does a lot of the Husker softball games.  He's a good friend of one of my friends.

Drew did great, but I'm looking forward to hearing James again. Change is hard!

BTN studio guy was praising "Riley Rooster," so there's that.

I didn't get to watch the game, but wow what a win!

The team is starting to find their identity now (or again).

Nebraska won the field goal %, free throw %, rebounds, and assist.

Its amazing we can go on the road and win when we shoot 17% from 3.
