I can't help but think these past two games were a golden opportunity gone to waste.

- NU caught NW and IU without key players had second half leads and let them both slip away. I'm not going to say they should be 2-0, but they probably should be at least 1-1.

- This is the fifth straight year NU has started 0-2 in conference play.

- Shields is struggling. He's going to have to figure out to get it done or NU's going to be in a world of hurt.

- I think this was as good as McVeigh has looked all year.

- On the turnover on the inbound, Miles was indecisive on the play he wanted to run. There was confusion on the court when the ball was inbounded.

- White had three passes go of his hands and out of bounds. Had fairly simple lay ups if he catches those. They loom large in this one.

- Thought he forced a couple shots early, too.

- I liked that we saw more of Hammond and less of Fuller in this one.

- I liked the more balanced scoring effort.

- I really feel like the struggles to close out games this season will pay dividends next year with so many of these guys learning on the job. I know it sucks right now and I'm sure it's frustrating for the team to feel like they're so close and not quite able to get over the top. But typically you have to go through this sort of thing before you break out on top. I think they'll get there next year.

- Is Benny Parker becoming a secondary scoring option? I'm a fan of it. Kudos to the senior for stepping up. Hope he keeps it going. That will mean only good thing.

- Gotta wonder if Tai is still fighting though the oblique. Those things can linger for a while.

Not a bad effort.  I felt Northwestern was a bad effort.  Tonight, we brought it.

Yogi was the difference in the game.  We didn't have anyone that could make those plays.

We have to figure it out defensively.  The sooner we do that, the faster we start winning games.

It seemed like in the 2nd half we couldn't get a stop when we needed it.

Didn't get out coached or out worked tonight IMO. Had Yogi been wearing a different red we win.

And there's the rub. Players like Yogi (and Bryant) don't think about Nebraska while they're being recruited. I admire Chauncey Billups so much for taking the chance 20 years ago on his home-state school and lifting them to a Sweet 16. He turned down the IUs (Kansas, Kentucky, North Carolina, etc.) of the world to do so.

That's what makes Wednesday so much more frustrating.  We give that effort the other night, we most likely beat Northwestern, as they didn't have a playmaker like Yogi.  I can live with this loss, we just got outplayed by a really good college player.

Bring this effort, every night, we might have a chance to win some games, and pull off an upset at home.

1st half played really well. Shots were falling, we were driving, everything looked pretty good.

2nd half was Yogi time. He beat us single handily. We played fairly good D on him too. Man he is tough. We settled for a few too many jumpers early.

0-2 with the first 2 at home hurt. 4 of next 5 on road. If we play like today... Like we can, we can sneak a few of these next 5 out.

Yogi is also a senior.  Watson might be able to make those types of plays in 3 years.  Bryant is just a load.

It's a shame Yogi didn't declare for the draft.  He is going to be way too old, 23, entering the draft and there was really no upside to him staying for his senior year at Indiana.

I see what you did here

One more thing... We as the fans sucked today. There were some here and there that got up and got loud at times but I was really disappointed in the atmosphere today.

Northwestern wasn't an intimidating atmosphere as well. What happened to the allure of playing in a hostile PBA?

A couple of things.  Students not there.  A midweek midafternoon game, tough to get a crazy crowd.  I thought the crowd was pretty decent today.  Not the best one ever, but decent.

First of all, Indiana is a fairly good team--not great, but pretty good.

And we had a chance for a one-possession game with 31 seconds left, despite being down by 12 late in the second half. But White missed a 3-pointer, and we lost the hack-at-the-end.

And consider this: four Nebrasketball freshmen combined today for 82 minutes, 30 of 69 points, and 13 of 29 rebounds.

And to anyone saying great recruits don't come to Nebraska: next year we will have a half-dozen or so four-star / top-100 types on the floor, and three or four of those will be freshmen / sophomores. Before last season, we'd never had a single one.

It was a fairly standard Nebrasketball crowd. School not being in session doesn't help things. Didn't really have too much issue with what the crowd did or didn't do.

Good effort (just hate losing home games)

Shields I think sometimes tries to do too much (I guess there are no other options)

Had four guys in double figures. There are other options. Missed a lot at the rim tonight.

I was just as disappointed after this game as I was after the Northwestern game.  We are attempting to operate a V8 internal-combustion engine having two opposed banks of four cylinders, each inclined so that the axes of the cylinders form a V -shaped angle as seen from the end of the engine.  The problem is that one of the cylinders is missing and two or three of the other cylinders are cracked and leaking oil.

We can complain about the offense, but some improved passing and the ability to finish a few additional shots can cure what ails us there.  But on defense, it is getting to feel a bit hopeless.  We cannot stop dribble penetration without giving up an easy lay up or dunk, and any pass that enters the post will end up with a made basket.  Conceptually this defense should work, but it isn't.

I don't know, I am still frustrated from the game, but we need a bit of an engine overhaul, and I am struggling right now with the core belief that we have either the mechanic or parts to get it repaired.  I am hoping and praying this is just a vocalization of my post-game frustration.  Sorry for the vent.

7 freshman will learn a lot this year, hopefully we start to see some development, and finish the season strong, and on to better years a head.

With staff turnover, the inability to recruit serviceable 5's, and moving on without petteway (still not sure why he left to play in the D-league) its like we're starting with the first bricks of a new foundation.

Keep teaching and recruiting coach Miles, here's to the light coming on for a number of these kids sooner, rather than later.

There will continue to be multiple rotations when you have so many young guys playing. Just the nature of the beast

15 games in, I'm a little concerned Miles has yet to identify his rotation.

Anyone else notice that White and Shields are rarely on the court at the same time?

I audibly heard volleyball 3 clap during the opposing team announcement and Crean seemed pretty comfortable most of the time. For Indiana it was pretty dead.

That's largely student led, though. The fans are all the same ones that are always there. It's about the same crowd as we've seen the past 15+ years. The student section getting back will have a big impact.
