And this snuck up on me.

Believe it or not, I don't really pay too much attention to post counts, not even my own.  I happened to notice it at 14,998 and thought maybe I could commemorate post #15,000 with some kind of special post to mark the occasion.  It's not every day I hit 15,000 posts on a message board. In fact, this is the first time I've ever done it.

I've started threads in the past to say what a great place I think this board is, so I'm not going to do a repeat of that.  I still think it's a great board, but we've covered that already.

Let me use this post to tie back into a different thread about whether, after 10 years, it's time to give up one's tickets.

I don't judge much by post counts.  I don't think a large post count means you know what the heck you're talking about, nor do I think a small post count necessarily means you don't.  Sometimes someone new comes along who starts in on a hot-button issue or attacks a regular poster, and you might think troll.  But, being around just a few posts doesn't mean a person doesn't have something worthwhile to contribute.

What 15,000 posts does say, though, is that I've been around awhile.  That number of posts was accumulated over roughly the same span of time that our other writer suggested he/she has held season tickets to the Huskers.  So, I can say that I've clearly been around during those good times and bad.  And I've held my season tickets more than twice that long so I've seen more than double the amount of good and bad moments.

Would I give them up?  The season tickets?  After all that good and bad?  Are you kidding me?

In a word?  No.

A little about me:  I don't much share personal information on the internet but let me just say I have a high-stress career.  Sometimes I need a mental health break.  Just a moment to share some thoughts about a common passion with people who are generally jovial and like-minded.  When I need to get my mind off of something heavy and find a moment to relax my brain, I come here.

There's not much opportunity for water-cooler talk where I am and I've said before that this place here is my water cooler.

You might say I've picked a strange subject matter as my stress reliever, as my escape from the stress of my everyday work, what with all the ups and downs in Husker hoops and moments of agony that we've shared over the years.  But that probably explains a bit about why I'm one of the sunshine pumpers here and why I'm always looking optimistically to the future of the program.

It probably also explains how the hell I managed to reach 15,000 posts.  You folks and this program are my stress release.  Without Husker hoops and this board over the last 10 years, I'd have probably worn a pair of those Chinese stress-relieving balls down to the size of BBs.  Instead, I just chatted my way to 15,000 posts at Husker Hoops Central.

Thanks for being there for me.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,

Norm

Norm,

Congrats on the # of posts, I have been a season ticket holder since late 70's except for a few years when my kids were in high school. I also use this for stress relief, although I don't post much but I am on here pretty regular. I enjoy this forum so much better than any of the others I have looked at because on here people can disagree without being total jerks about it.

There's only 3 of us here in the 10k+ post club so far.  I'm just glad I beat dimes to that 3rd spot.   :)  I doubt I'll beat him to 15k though.

There would be a lot more of 'em if post counts carried over from previous versions of the board. I don't actually want to know what my count would be if those were included...

pace.

Wow, and you landed on exactly 7,000 posts with that one.

How long were you planning that, Silver?? ;)

Yeah no way I am smart enough to do that correctly.

THAT Deserves a DOWN Arrow Silver - for being wrong (you're plenty smart ;)) ; only the second one I have (intentionally) given - a few fat, twitchy-fingered ones though.
