Interesting development here, if we don't want his brother and have another plan, I guess okay. I just don't like the drug out process even though I respect a kids decision to check out all their options.

GBR

I once thought Jordy's recruitment process was a take your time, become educated and make the correct and very calculated decision ala Andrew White. I still have that opinion but the newest developments have me questioning that.

With 12 days left in signing period he is looking at new schools... Makes you wonder....

And still I wonder is he looking at the new schools or have ties led to the school's trying to throw their hats in the ring and that's how the dots were connected? In other words, new schools are inquiring but does Jordy have interest in visiting those schools? Time will tell.

I would have zero problem with offering Link. At worst we get Jordy. If Link could develop into a part time defender and rebounder it's a bonus. We're at that critical mass point of Miles' tenure IMO where we need to make a move and a decent center is a huge part of that next step.

On the other hand, maybe Link signs his LOI and Jordy doesn't?  We zig and he zags?

So now it is Gonzaga?

Just so long as we're not Akron... as in, Zip.

So . . . this is all a little weird.

Try, for example, to find anything about Jordy Tshimanga on a Minnesota basketball message board from the past ten days.  I can't find any.

Try to find anything about Jordy Tshimanga on a UNLV basketball message board since the hiring of their new coach.  I can't find anything.

You'd think that, if some real fire exists with either of these schools, there'd be at least a little smoke emitting from the fan bases--that's how it always works.  But then, again, maybe I'm simply missing some obvious online info out there.

Sounds like we may be prepared to offer Link if it seriously comes to that...

I was a bit cool on the prospect of this earlier but unless he tore his ACL or something like that, using our last scholarship on 7-1 center who is physically capable of hanging in the B1G is a pretty good idea.

I haven't seen anything from Minnesota regarding either Jordy or smoke about someone transferring; They landed a grad trasnfer with their last scholarship and they're going from there.

UNLV on the other hand with 6 scholarships and a new staff is going to be a mess.  The first thing the new coach and assistants are going to do is run down a list of everyone who they've recruited in the past plus potentially anyone in the top 150 who hasn't signed somewhere...that's Jordy among anyone else.  I sure could see visiting Vegas but if those guys really want somewhere with a good environment, Vegas sure isn't that place.

As you illustrated with Link in a prior post even if Jordy is going to come here and is even a lock to do so we're potentially going to have to wait it out.

See, this is how rumors get started.

If we don't offer Link, I have a bad feeling about Jordy. If they are close siblings, it'd be hard to not want to play together. With our need for bigs, I'm very confused as to why we haven't.

Because he's not a high D1 prospect. At all. I understand it may be necessary in order to get Jordy, but the reason we haven't to this point is we aren't wasting a scholarship on a position that can be equally filled by a walk on.

Pretty sure he'd be an upgrade over Kurkowski or Borchardt, so I'm gonna have to politely disagree.

Neither of those guys were on scholarship though.

Miles probably plans on filling out the scholarships this year. That's the plan anyway. Whether he does is besides the point. All I'm saying is the reason we haven't offered Link as of yet is that he isn't a Big 10 caliber prospect. That's why we didn't offer him the first time around. And he may be a slight upgrade over a kurkowski or a borchardt but that alone doesn't make him scholarship worthy. Riding the bench is riding the bench. a practice player is a practice player. Now I'd rather have Jordy so if Link is a requirement to get Jordy then fine but offering now is a waste of a potential scholarship.
