lang Posted August 11, 2013 Report Posted August 11, 2013 Hammond starts his visit today. Looking forward to the report when it's over. Basketball recruiting has to be brutal. You... --only have a few spots usually --can't afford misses, --have timing issues (wondering if you still have a shot with this other better player/can you afford to wait for plan A if Plan B wants to commit) ..all that kind of stuff. HuskerActuary Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 Committed per Robin Washut tweet. Quote

TheKamdyMan Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 First 150 in rivals history. Hooper 1 Quote
bball23 Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 Verbally committed after his visit per Robin and Rosenthal on twitter. Robin said he may be the 1st ever top 150 recruit from rivals as he came in at 139. Great get!! Quote
bball23 Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 Sorry, put this on main page and then saw these post. Quote
nebrasketball10 Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 Hopefully he backs off his wants-to-take-all-5-visits stance. Great news Quote
ShortDust Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 Curious to read Robin's report on it later tonight!! A big pick up for Miles! Hopefully Gilmore sees this and wants to be the next top rated commit! Nebrasketballer 1 Quote

FredsSlacks Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 more proof that the curse on nebrasketball has been lifted. Only thing left is a tournament win. Quote
HuskerActuary Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 Ok, I'm going to come out and say it. How is Hammond a Rivals top 150 player? I don't see anything that shows he should be, and he's definitely not our best recruit of all-time (even though he's our first 150 recruit). Still, definitely excited about the commit. Quote
Huskerpapa Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 Geez Actuary...you are over-analyzing. You would think you analyzed numbers and stuff for a living. Take a deep breath, and enjoy the moment! Silverbacked1 1 Quote
nebrasketball10 Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 There's a thread in the recruiting forum. Think it technically belongs there until he signs an LOI Quote
cipsucks Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 Hammond, huh? Must have got on board a northbound 747..... Quote

I don't see anything that shows he should be, and he's definitely not our best recruit of all-time (even though he's our first 150 recruit). Still, definitely excited about the commit. I think he had a very good summer. Some reports on his high school games last year said he was unimpressive (committed silly fouls and traveled a lot)....but every evaluation of him I've read this summer has said nothing but great things. Keep in mind that his high school team last year was pretty much an AAU All-Star team with 10 D-1 players. Not very disciplined and don't run much of an offense. Hammond seems to have all the physical tools and I think Miles will be able to coach him up. Quote
uneblinstu Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 Keep in mind Rivals has only been putting out a top 150 since 2003, so in that time frame, he very easily could be our best (domestic) recruit. At least as far as ratings go... Quote
Huskerpapa Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player-Jacob-Hammond-132900 I kind of smile watching this one... http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=8307854 And remember...this is video of him as a sophomore... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MzIeQMSHJ4E Quote
