Instead of being "the Duke of the Mo' Valley"  sounds like Creighton is finally going to put on it's Big Boy pants. As much as I loathe the Bluejays, I realize a strong Creighton program raises the level of exposure and competition for "all" Nebraska basketball, college and otherwise. Who would have ever thought the Big Red would be in a Conference with Rutgers, and Creighton would be playing home games against Georgetown?

The OWH had an exclusive article about it in this morning's paper.  I sure as crap wasn't going to post it here.... Especially in the Devaney Dungeon.....But, whatever...... ;)

Ahem...the Haymarket Highrise....'cause we've finally got a piece of the pieeeeeeeeeeee...."

I'm hearing it's pretty much a done deal.  I was at a bar in Omaha last night and I heard several Creighton fans talk as if this new conference was going to be the gold standard of college basketball.  I do think it will be a good basketball conference, but the Big East power programs are all pretty much leaving.  Leave it to Creighton fans, right?

If I were a Creighton fan who understands just how poor of a coach Greg McDermott was at Iowa State, I wouldn't be getting much sleep at night, that's for sure.  That guy is going to be in over his head.  Anyway, I may dislike Creighton but I am not going to hate.  It's good for there program, they should be happy they get a chance to move.  I'm just not sure it's going to end well for them or be as glamorous as they think.

Marquette, providence, seton hall and St. John's. definitely a step down from the current big east but probably a top 5 conference

I'd say a tick better than the Mountain West, perhaps?  Maybe not this year...

After looking at this league, this looks like the Little East, minus Georgetown and Marquette, it is nothing compared to what it is this  year.  I mean I would compare it to like a Pac 12 or SEC of this year.  A big question is can Greg McDermott out recruit Georgetown, Marquette, etc.  He proved that his move to a big boy league wasnt all that successful at Iowa St.  Cant wait for the first Creightonian to start whining when they are bottom half of the league.

The Big East as it is constituted right now is a fantastic hoops league, up there with the B1G and ACC.  But after this year they are losing:

Syracuse

Pitt

Louisville

Notre Dame

UConn

among others.  Folks that's a LOT of hoops royalty right there.  I can see the new Big East slipping a few notches in the conference RPI rankings.  Probably somewhere around Pac 12 A-10 SEC range, just ahead of the Valley in Nolan's rankings:  http://warrennolan.com/basketball/2013/conferencerpi

I've read some of the stuff the Georgetown and Marquette people have said about this being a basketball league where football doesn't call all the shots. Seems like a good idea for them, assuming they get the TV money they're hoping for. Either way, it's a big boy league with those teams.

Sam Mckewon said on Monday that the new Big East would be better than the Big 10 in basketball.

Is PJ Carlesimo still at Seton Hall?  And will Lou Carnesecca be returning to coach St. Johns back to their 1980's form?

I love Sam Mckewon, but that's a clown statement, bro.
