Yeah, by the end of the regular season I really don't think 19 will be enough. Think we're gonna need three more to go dancing.

Nahh— not with the quality of wins. Seeding wise though….

Horrible start was a killer with all the turnovers.   We were not prepared for them continuing to trap the ball after we crossed half court.   Very few teams do that - but we needed to handle it better and it really created momentum for them which was a killer.

We played poorly in multiple phases and did not deserve to win the game.   That said the officiating was ridiculously uneven  They were by far the more aggressive team defensively and for most of the first half we could not get a call no matter what they did - while we had key players in foul trouble.   It wasn't that the fouls on us should not have been called but PSU was constantly reaching and grabbling and nothing was called on that end.   Even if we had played well we would not have been able to win with that discrepancy in the way the game was called.  If I was Fred I would have just played the walkons at the end of the bench the entire second half.  But he has more composure than I do - and unfortunately under the current systems margin of victory is a factor in tourney selection so we had to play hard until the end.   Just glad no one got hurt.

Bottom line - forget this one.   If you would have told me we would get 1 of these 2 road wins a week ago I would have been happy.   So just forget how that happened and show up and play hard Monday.

No coach in the history of college basketball would have won with our effort tonight, especially on defense.  Now, if you want to bitch about the coaches not having them ready.  That's fair game.

Not having them ready, not playing the right guys, stitting guys with two fouls until the game is over and on and on.  Many things.  Not one single thing was coached well.

Depends on who the matchup is against, I suppose.

19-12 and 9-11 in the conference is likely to get you a 10 seed at best. You're playing someone in the 11-15 range and I don't think that moves the needle much. Thank god we came back against Northwestern

I was hoping that might be enough for the 9-seed. Guess we will have to see how it works out.

We actually played Sam, Brice and Andrew in the first half, all with two fouls.  We called two early timeouts to no avail.   Tried different combinations without success.

I mentioned, and will double-down on the fact that was a total team loss...top to bottom and across the staff.  This late in the season, you simply have to come into a game ready for war.  The whole team looked a step and a half slow with their collective minds, elsewhere.

I do not understand that mentality.

I don't consider Morgan playing 30 seconds tops with two "playing with two fouls" as the lead ballooned to 23 in the first half with him on the bench for 17 minutes of it.  Sorry.

About time to dust off the Big Ten tournament seeding generator: https://bball.notnothing.net/big10.php?sport=mbb

Chalk results put Nebraska as a 10 seed, playing Northwestern. Winner plays Illinois, and then Maryland. Honestly (and this is classic Nebrasketball sunshine pumping), I like that path much better than being the 9 seed, playing Ohio State and then Wisconsin. But to Matt's point, a NW win/ILL lost doesn't do anything other than the aesthetics of having a 20 at the start of the record.

Find a way to get 2 more dubs. That's the recipe. Anything less will be horrendous.

Need 3.

I know it's hard to take a big picture look immediately after another thorough butt kicking but I will reiterate our resume stacked against teams on the bubble is very, very good.  Yes, our predictive metrics will take a hit but our quad record and wins away from home are so much stronger than the bubble teams.  Two wins and at worst we are in Dayton barring craziness in conference tournaments and numerous bid stealers.

My take has nothing to do with the moment.   If we only win 2, including the conference tournament, I don't think we're in.  Unless one of the 2 wins is Michigan.   So let's just win 3  more, so we never know the answer.

I do worry that at least one of our quad 1 wins will not be by the end.  We certainly did not help Ohio st season ending hopes of being top 30 net with this game either since they will end up with us on schedule at least two times.  How much one less quad one affects things, I am not sure.

I'm only referring to the regular season in saying 2 more dubs. I didn't mean a total of 2 more wins, including the B1G tourney. I should have clarified that.

Yes, I agree with you.  Two more in the regular season is enough.  I do not believe we need 3 total but obviously the more, the better.  Hopefully, this becomes a moot point because we just win 3 out of 4 to close the regular season.

I guess we did what we needed to do for the road trip.  Disappointing tonight.  Doesn't seem we were mentally ready.  We miss Berke a lot.  I thought Meah should have got the start tonight.

Beating Michigan would make up for tonight.  A bit of pressure now.

But in the minutes Meah did get, he was awful.   Just revolting.

Morgan got 2 fouls in 90 seconds...  Without Berke inside what we are trying to do on defense isn't going to work with Morgan.
