And darn it because I was hoping we’d bring in a solid post player.

I wonder if Lindsay Krause would have any interest in coming over to the WBB team in mid December after VB season is over. Do you think she misses playing basketball? She was a force on the b-ball court for Skutt in her high school days. I mean, she’s 6’4”, she’s athletic, and she’s a great leaper. I think she could contribute in the post.

No, I’m not saying she would come in and average 20 pts and 10 rebs a game after being away from competitive basketball for 4-5 years. But her size and her athleticism would be a problem for opposing teams.

I'd like to see it.  Not sure she would be a lot of help, but she does have the size and competitiveness.  If nothing else, we might sell a few more tickets.

Lilly Tauleilei a 6-3 Post player who is a freshman at Univ. of Mass. last season was a visitor at the Nebraska spring FB game last Sat.

She was a decorated player in New Zealand in High School. Would have 3 years left.  Hope she is in or going into the portal and signs with us.

Unfortunately for us she is going to Iowa State.  I thought we had a great chance to get her.  Oh well I hope we have another post in mind or a way to stay healthy with the ones we have.

So…at this point, is it safe to conclude that Rimdal from Florida is the only transfer that the coaching staff is bringing aboard?

Sigh. I’m sure the staff pursued other players in the portal this spring, and for whatever reason, those players chose to sign someplace else. I get it, that happens. I’m just very nervous about how much more difficult this conference will become next season.

If no one more comes our way then I fear that the conference in general (and several of the teams) got better and we didn't.  Yes, two of the frosh are great acquisitions, but they are after all frosh and their best contributions are probly down the road a piece.  Wish we had acquired a player with more experience and maturity.  I am disappointed.

New Zealand's Lilly Tauleilei a 6-3 going to Iowa State does not make sense for her.  Iowa State's 6' 3" Audi Crooks huge center beat out the starting center who left at the end of the season.

The way I looked at it is that Lilly T. prefers the power forward position instead of the center position.  She wouldn't beat out Potts at Nebraska and will play alongside Crooks at Iowa State for the next three years.  It came down to us and Iowa St. and they won this one like they did with their sixth year great point guard Emily Ryan.  I think they also recruited Potts who I think is the better power forward.

i am guessing they are done. seems like it goes that direction once the staff hits the road to recruit. they know who is coming and who has chosen to go elsewhere (as far as contacts they have made).

a bit disappointing. i thought with the great showing they had in the big ten tourney and making the ncaa's, they could find a "big".

If they don't get someone for this year then that really makes next year's recruiting class super important.  A couple of freshmen posts along with an experienced transfer would be good.

"Janiah Barker, the No. 3-ranked prospect from the Class of 2022, has committed to UCLA out of the transfer portal, she announced on social media Tuesday.

Barker, a 6-foot-4 forward from Georgia, spent her first two seasons at Texas A&M, where she was the highest-ranked recruit in program history. She originally committed to Georgia, when current Texas A&M coach Joni Taylor was still at the helm there but followed Taylor to College Station.

Barker appeared in only 19 games as a freshman due to injury but was the only SEC rookie to lead her team in scoring (12.7 PPG), while also putting up 5.9 rebounds per game and earning SEC All-Freshman honors.

As a sophomore in 2023-24, Barker's 12.2 points per game were tied for second on the Aggies, and she also averaged 7.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.3 steals per contest."

UCLA continues to add....

LOS ANGELES – Graduate transfer Charlisse Leger-Walker is coming to Westwood. The three-time All-Pac-12 student-athlete joins the Bruins, officially signing with UCLA Women's Basketball.

The Waikato, New Zealand native finished her undergraduate career in the top five in career points (1,743 – 3rd), assists (389 – 4th), made threes (199) and minutes played (3,794) in Washington State's record books.

Leger-Walker was the 2020-21 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year and has racked up nine Pac-12 Player or Freshman of the Week awards in her career. Prior to her season-ending injury in January, the guard started in 21 games for the Cougs and recorded two triple-doubles in her senior campaign. She averaged 13.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.7 steals in 33.3 minutes per game.

Coach's Corner
"Charlisse Leger-Walker was projected as a top five WNBA pick before she got injured, so to say I'm thrilled to add her to our roster would be an understatement," said the Michael Price Family UCLA Women's Head Basketball Coach Cori Close. "I think she is the perfect complimentary piece to our backcourt. Her knowledge of the game, her leadership skills, her versatility, her poise – it all lends her to being the perfect fit for our team moving forward."

so as for getting help from the portal, do you think that Amy is just happy enough with her existing roster and doesn't want/need any help .... or that she has tried and is trying and has made offers, but just hasn't had any success?

Either scenario is not ideal.

Nice drive by down-arrowing, Birds.  Glad to see you haven’t changed.   Maybe you can share your thoughts on the portal.  Richard.
