If anybody feels like getting upset for no reason heres how our resume stacks up against AP top 25 Oklahoma....... seems pretty close to me. Oklahoma a 6 seed and we will be in the NIT (just kidding) (kind of)

Those don't seem to be particularly close at first glance. Nebraska getting hammered in too many games, tbh. Maybe these final 6 games will help NU separate from the other bubbly teams, let's see how that goes. GBR

Based on the way they came out to start the Michigan game, against a team that doesn't add much value to us other than another one in the win column, I feel like this team knows they need to win (and win handily) against these teams they must beat.

That gives me some confidence as we get latter into February. We can't erase the bad losses, but let's take care of business going forward.

I suppose they aren't really that close when it comes to the "metrics" but in terms of quad records and SOS it seems like we should be closer to them than we are. those road beatdowns sure do hurt us though

I'm in favor of this. Win in the B1G, and win "BIG"! 👊

Yeah, I agree with that. I wish they could have had a couple of games back, in particular. Oh well, gotta win "BIG" in the B1G, now. GBR

We are good, we have great story lines, and we’ve beaten two top-6 teams.

AP rankings are meaningless to the committee. Not to mention you’re referencing Wisconsin’s AP ranking on the day of the game, not on Selection Sunday.

In the committee’s eyes we have wins over the #2, 21, and 23 teams. All at home. The win over #2 is an important selling point, but the others are completely standard for bubble teams. 20 wins ain’t gonna cut it for us.

Some of the reasons why the metrics aren't fully in our favor: weak nonconference, losing so much on the road, when we lose we tend to lose big.

If we switch out a few of the Florida A&M teams for a few more Duquesne and sprinkle in another neutral site game, our metrics would look a ton different. (That’s also if we would have won those games)

Not to mention every team has story lines. Cant think just because we have Tominaga and haven’t won a game they’ll let us in. They don’t care about any of that when they’re setting the seed list.

Northwestern was a media darling when they made it because literally every sports journalist went to Northwestern.

Yep. I don’t buy that the committee seeks out story lines. I don’t buy that they give preferential treatment to storied programs either. Otherwise UNC is in last year.

While true, I will say Tominaga is not your average sports story.  I’ve seen more tweets about him from random journalists and accounts than probably any Husker in recent memory.  Media from Japan would flock.  More eyes overseas on the tournament.

You're 100% right though that we will not get in because of our stories.  Our resume and metrics will have to be at least comparable to other bubble teams if we end up on the deep bubble.

To piggy back off of this...humans are persuaded by any number things. Would they put us in because of the storyline? No. But are they persuaded (even subconsciously)to put us in, when comparing the resumes of our peers, by all the positive press because of the storyline. I'm not willing to say no to that.

I'm not too worried about it.  I've always expected them to be in.

On average, we're about 7th or 8th in across all the brackets.  I think several others near and behind us will play themselves out.

Expand

Not sure where you are seeing the 7th and 8th seed projections? Per Bracketmatrix Huskers aren't listed as #7 seed anywhere, a #8 seed in 5 brackets and #9 seed in 18 brackets. Mostly #10/#11 with being #12 in 5. It updated as I was typing reply. We were in 100 of 101 brackets but now listed in 90 of 92.

I'll agree with the original premise, but contend for a different reason.

The committee absolutely loves a Round of 32 storyline. Not saying they blatantly seed accordingly, but if given the opportunity they'll find a way to pair matchups of interest in that same part of the bracket.

7th or 8th from being out.  Not seed

Pretty hefty jump after a really mediocre performance, or at least what seems like it.  That's pretty good.  5 regular season games left, need to win 3.

Ken's prediction stays at 21-10 (11-9).  Torvik also, 21-10 (11-9).

San José State splits the home stand this week, they beat Air Force and lose to Wyoming and fall to #230.

Here we go.

That is the dumbest of ALL the metrics IMO.  Put Nebraska's Wins and Losses verse Michigan State and it makes no sense.  That ranking system is clearly about the name on the jersey

It actually seems that ranking is about winning on the road. We’re #50 with one road win. Get a couple more and we’ll be fine.
