I know this sounds crazy, but I’m not convinced we need Tominaga to be a starter.  He could be our leading scorer as a 6th man IMO.

He will probably be our leading scorer regardless if he starts or not but would be absolutely shocked if he's not in the starting line-up.

He could lead them in scoring off the bench but he needs to be out there at the start.  I don't see the benefit of resting one of your best players at the start.

I’d bet money 💰 Williams is our leading scorer.

i want to agree with this so bad, easily the most talented player on the team, but i feel like so much stuff will go through keisei. they’ll both open so much stuff for each other, keisei will probably average like 1 more log is my guess

Sharpie:

Rienk Mast

Keisei Tominaga

Brice Williams

Dry erase:

Jamarques Lawrence

Ahron Ulis

Allick/Gary

I think the big question for me is whether Brice Williams can play a Hoiberg stretch 4. Or would we rather have Allick/Gary on the floor?

If Allick/Gary, then I see Williams playing one of the SG/wing spots with Keisei and someone who is a ballhandler and can initiate the offense.

So, it's either Mast, Allick/Gary, Williams, Tominaga, PG OR it's Mast, Williams, Tominaga, Lawrence, PG.

After the Spain trip, we'll know a lot more.

We spent a lot of last season playing Griesel or CJ at the 4 defensively, so  as well as Brice rebounds I'd expect hit to split time between the 3 and 4 as needed. Matchups requiring more size and/or Allick/Gary breaking out from the outside will dictate some of this.  We're really going to see what type of coach Hoiberg is this year because somewhere in all of these guys is a 20 win team (as well as a 12 win team)

I believe the lone sharpie is Keisei.   I am even struggling with what could be a nine player rotation.  You could literally throw up any nine of our scholarship players,  and even factor in two of our walk-ons and I wouldn't be shocked at the lists.

Here is a tougher question in my mind, if we agree to a nine player rotation.   Who is left out of said rotation???

Okay, I am now better prepared to provide my opinion as to the rotation as we are now in the meat of our schedule.  I am more concerned with who is playing when the game is on the line rather than starters.  So these appear to be the the players with my estimated minutes [200 total minutes]

Front Court

Mast  30

Allick  25

Gary   25

Front/Back Court

Williams  30

Wilcher  20

Back Court

Lawrence  25

Tominaga  25

Hoiberg     20

Outside looking in

Coleman - needs to reduce turnovers

Rice - defense needs to improve

Diop - strength and basketball acumen

***Lloyd, Grace, Burt, Blaise, Cale, Ulis will help us get better.  And then, you never know.

Gary may have been our best player since he came back. He and Mast need more minutes than Allick. Big gap between those two and him. And personally, I’d like to

see more Keisei.
