Okay I am throwing this out here and I mean no disrespect or stereotypical statement…

because of his culture would He come back next year because of his honor?

What I mean is that the Japanese do tend to finish what they start, he said he was coming here and has one year left.

Hope this sounds like I want it to and not like maybe it could.  Don’t want to be something that goes off the rails.

On behalf of the Japanese 🇯🇵 I approve of your message.  (I’m part Japanese so I am rounding up).

I actually was thinking (hoping) along the same lines as you.  He seems like he is having the time of his life…I suspect he wants to finish this off right.

No I don’t think he’ll be drafted.  No I’m not for sure he’d ever be an NBA staple. BUT.  Should Keisei come back next year and put up the same type of numbers he is lately for an entire year… it wouldn’t shock me to see some NBA team take a flyer on him.

There was a Tominaga jersey at a fricking PGA Golf tournament.  Show me an NBA team that needs to make some quick cash and I’ll show you a guy who’s worth probably 3000X his weight in apparel and ticket sales alone.

I was under the impression that The 2 Australian players on the women's team went home to Australia last summer signed a NIL over There and then return to play in United States this season. Why couldn't Keisei do the same thing this summer?

Sure but his options would be more limited in Japan.  He can make some money but if he signed with a Japanese team he would be more valuable in terms of NIL.

We need to get Huskers of Japan shell company going and funnel him some money.

Can we get a Japanese pipeline going?  There have to be more good Japanese players who want exposure in the states can KT send them our way a Rising Sun to Big Red pipeline.

I’d be all for it but honestly there aren’t a lot of players over there that could play P5 basketball.  The only one other than Keisei I recall is Rui Hachimura who played for Gonzaga.  He wasn’t your typical Japanese player….his father was African I believe.

Baseball is their best sport.  Most people who follow baseball know Ichiro Suzuki and Hideki Matsui.

Now if Keisei know some baseball studs back home he should forward their information to Will Bolt ASAP.

Has anyone actually heard that is is considering leaving or is it all speculative in nature?

I think I remember reading on here that he had quite an offer at the end of last year to play pro over there.  That, one can only assume, is going to go way up after this year.  Combine that with the fact that he gets nothing over here.... it's probably between speculative and knowing for a fact.

Listing Hideki Matsui but not Shohei Ohtani is akin to mentioning Brandon Ubel instead of Ty Lue on a list of famous former Huskers.

Speculative based on him saying he was offered 500k to sign last year but wanted to come back.

This year he will get offered more and honestly if your are advising the young man would coming back next year get him into the NBA?

Would it improve his stock for the Japanese league?

When he loses Walker, his passing buddy who he has a great relationship with, will he be as dynamic next year?

I would say no, probably no and probably no.

He might be as hot not as he ever will be.

All of that isn't to say he doesn't deserve bags of NIL cash.  Huskers of Japan should be a thing and he can fly back do some commercials and we can all watch them online.

Things can change over the course of a season like a guy not committing or not getting fired or a team winning then losing then winning; expect Keisei to be playing professionally next year.

I hope you are wrong on this as I suspect you are just guessing as well.  My gut and probably wishful thinking leads me to believe that he'll run it back next year in the hopes he can get on draft radars.

If I was guessing I would have said that. If I'm wrong it's because things changed.

Not doubting.

But for Keisei to stay:

   Who needed to commit?

   Who needed to get fired?

How does winning now play into this (other than getting Keisei notoriety and onto the NBA radar)?

Why are the On3 guys saying 50/50?

This is 100x more cryptic than the cryptic thread titles you scolded Norm for.

Sorry, I guess re-reading what I posted I guess that could be taken as cryptic.  Honestly that's me illustrating how wrong everyone has been about everything this season and hoping that I am also part of that trend of wrongness.

I am really struggling to read between all of your lines on your posts here.  I guess I don't understand why you can't

explicitly state what you know or were led to believe at some point?  I promise I won't hold it against you, just genuinely curious. 😀

For the record, I did NOT put him up to this.

But while we're on the subject, I think Matt likes thread titles that sound like chapter titles from a tech manual whereas I like to make thread titles that sound like chapter titles from a novel.

I wouldn't blame Keisei for securing his bag. If it was 500k last year it's gotta be significantly larger this year. He will have his degree in hand and that is life changing money for a young man.

Fortunately, 500,000 yen is roughly the equivalent of $4,000, so the NIL-to-Japan back channel doesn't have to be particularly well-funded.
