He's more of a mid-to-low-major recruit at this point. Still has a long way to go before he earns a high-major offer. The frame is certainly intriguing, and he's capable of being a better shooter than he's been so far this high school season. Needs a big spring and summer. Had his breakout last summer playing as the No. 1 option for NBDA, though he didn't exactly face shoe circuit competition with their schedule. Was one of several Nebraska players who earned an invitation so SDSU's elite camp and he performed well enough there to get an offer.

Northern Iowa was there watching him against Skutt on Tuesday. His dad played for Greg McDermott at Wayne State back in the day, so that's where that connection is.

But getting in on a kid on the ground floor is important for this program.

I think we can all agree that we have recruited plenty of bigs to Nebraska that are projects to varying degrees.  One could argue that every big we have on our current roster (heck go back years) have been projects.  A player like Mikki Moore was a great example of not maturing into his game for 5 or 6 years post HS graduation.

The kid appears to have skillsets that can be built upon.  I say he is someone, like Sammy, who may be a perfect program match.

More um ...

Mid season highlights - Treyson Anderson highlights - Hudl

You got a 6'10 Lincoln kid with this kind of skill and athleticism. EVEN IF Jacob is right that he's low to mid major at this point (which I think is debatable given what I see), you still make a spot for him because his upside is tremendous and you're trying to start getting Nebraska kids to stay home.

This is almost no-brainer territory.

From the Journal-Star article, he's averaging a double-double. He's 6'10 and probably still growing. His video shows smooth athleticism. As well as some skill. And he's from Lincoln. Why would you NOT offer him?

Kid from Lincoln.  Same thing that makes Sam a great story for us in his senior year.  I like it.

Sam developed his game elsewhere before being able to come home and play in the Big Ten. Treyson Anderson is definitely one to keep an eye on due to his height and athleticism but there needs to be some consistency elsewhere before anybody should be referring to him as a must offer. He averages a double double? Well most people who are 6'10 in Nebraska would do so against some of the competition around here. One to watch, and far from a sure fire thing. Still needs to develop plenty of aspects in his game.

His numbers against Class A competition as a junior are similar to what Elliot Eliason did against Class C as a senior.

We originally missed on Josiah, and then fortunately got him for his final year.

I sorta think we may have missed on this kid as well.  He is having a very good senior year and Pius has forced its way into the top tier of teams in the state.

When Alexis Markowski was at Pius, we missed on her originally, and then swept in late to grab her...thank the good lord.  I wonder if that is a remote possibility here???

Head-to-head against our Southwest recruit...just saying...

Frager and the 6-foot-10 Anderson, a North Dakota State pledge, both showed why college coaches covet their skills.

Anderson finished with 22 points and 14 rebounds, scoring eight in the fourth quarter and six in the final four minutes.

Frager, with Husker coach Fred Hoiberg watching from the stands, scored 12 points in the fourth quarter and finished with 18 points, six rebounds and two blocked shots.

Lincoln Southwest girls 40, Lincoln Pius X 32: Kennadi Williams had 16 points and Brenly Noerrlinger and Hayden Rathe added eight apiece as the Silver Hawks overcame a slim deficit heading into the fourth quarter to knock off Pius X.

Southwest trailed the Bolts 28-26 after the third quarter, but Williams caught fire, scoring 10 points and going 5 for 6 from the free-throw line to put the Silver Hawks ahead. The Southwest defense, meanwhile, held Pius to just four fourth-quarter points.

The perimeter skill hasn't really developed at all (14% 3FG, 59% FT for his career at LPX) and he'd be a bit undersized at the five spot at the Big Ten level. He's having a terrific season, but he's also not going up against a ton of guys his size or bigger like he will in college.

I don't think Nebraska missed on Josiah. Taking the path he did helped him become the player he is now. There's nothing wrong with developing at a mid-major and then potentially earning on opportunity to transfer up and test yourself later on; that can often work out better than heading to a high-major out of high school and potentially getting stuck on the bench.
