Bugeaters1 Posted December 13, 2022 Report Posted December 13, 2022 (edited) Seems the like the Huskers could get a bid to a tourney if they could finish with a .500 mark. Edited December 14, 2022 by Bugeaters1 thrasher31 1 Quote
hskr4life Posted December 13, 2022 Report Posted December 13, 2022 Was interested what we had left with where things were at and where we currently are. Currently 1-4 Q1, 0-1 Q2, 0-0 Q3, and 5-0 Q4 Q1: (11 games)- KSU, @MSU, Illinois, @PU, OSU, @PSU, @Mary, @ILL, @Rutg, Mary, @Iowa Q2: (6 games)- Iowa, NW, PSU, @Michigan, Wisco, MSU Q3: (1 game)- Queens Q4: (2 games)- @Minny, Minny Let’s start by saying I fully expect a few of these to switch around. For example, Queens to a Q4, but maybe @Minny to a Q3. Probably a few Q2 homes dropping to Q3. Is it completely unrealistic to see a post season though? Heck no. Winning both Minny’s and Queens bumps us to 9-5. If we take care of home in Q2s, we’d sit at 14-6. We’d need a few Q1s but I think they are out there. Eyeing KSU, Maryland, OSU, and Illinois at home. Win a few roadies and we’re really talking. Now— do I expect big things? Heck no. I’m a Husker fan. However, the Quads are setting up fairly nicely for us already this year and we have a solid road win already. Handy Johnson and fr8-train 2 Quote
jimmykc Posted December 13, 2022 Report Posted December 13, 2022 Just wondering if the Kansas State game will be televised Saturday. I can't seem to find it anywhere. Quote

hskr4life Posted December 14, 2022 Report Posted December 14, 2022 You can get a Hulu, Hulu Live, ESPN+, Disney+ for 80ish a month. It’s not a bad deal and allowed me to get rid of Dish. Quote

I bet I watch 75% of it on that damn thing. Apparently Cocomelon and Blippi overrides what I want to watch hskr4life 1 Quote
jimmykc Posted December 14, 2022 Report Posted December 14, 2022 I refuse to stream. I'll just have to send a letter of protest to channel 10/11. But first I'll have to find out where to get a new ribbon for my typewriter. Handy Johnson 1 Quote

Lincoln’s track should be big enough when complete to host some nice races. If the casino can supplement the purses, it would be cool to get a few nice stakes races in Nebraska. Dare I say, maybe even a “Cornhusker Stakes Grade III”? Quote

That is 100% true as it's a massive game. Win and you move to 7-5 with wins over Creighton and K-state on your resume. Lose and you drop to .500 and another missed opportunity to pad your resume. It will have an effect of whether or not you make post season. millerhusker 1 Quote

To take this topic even further off the rails - I hope you're right, but we need to increase the number of state bred horses quite a bit to be able to fill out fields and to justify more racing days. State-bred horses have had a couple of decades of neglect because of the downfall of racing here. The casino money will be there to supplement bigger races that draw out of state horses/trainers, but you have to have plenty of state-bred races on the undercard to fill things out and to make competitive other races. Not much is worse for wagering than having half your races on a card with only 4 or 5 horses in them. I think the casino-fed purses will be large enough to justify increases in state-bred horse populations, but nature requires that it's going to take a few years to see the benefits. If everything works out, Lincoln could quickly become one of the most important ovals in the Midwest. Lincoln has the perfect combo of the least competition in terms of nearby casinos coupled with a large population base, and I'd imagine Lincoln's casino profits will be massive. That could supplement some major races. Plus Lincoln has at least a 7/8 mile track, where Omaha & GI are almost land-locked into 5/8 mile tracks without major construction, which limits their appeal for big races. Lincoln's straightaway should be long enough that it could accommodate up to 1-1/8 mile races on two turns, which is helpful. (Looks like Columbus is going to build a new 1-mile track, which should be interesting in terms of what kinds of races they can put together. Like GI, that Columbus casino will have a big regional draw and great profits, I'd imagine. By comparison Omaha & South Sioux are probably going to struggle the most; lots of nearby established casino competition.) And back on topic, big game Saturday. Get that one, and you're prob going to end up 8-3 in the non-con. That puts you in a really nice spot going into B1G play - a spot we haven't been in all that often the past few years. hskr4life and skerbball 1 1 Quote
