More visitors, or in the fray for some more commitments?

Here's some info from the Pitt website on Stevenson:

  • An explosive athlete with the leaping ability and strength to finish in traffic
  • Showed the ability to play as a big wing or undersized four-man a year ago ... can create matchup problems with his combination of size, quickness and athleticism
  • Has a nice shooting stroke out beyond the three-point line as well as the ability to put the ball on the floor
  • Possesses a 40 inch vertical and a 6-11 wingspan … strength and quickness allow him to be an effective defender and rebounder against bigger opponents
  • . . .
  • Academic All-ACC selection

Woldetensae is visiting Virginia this weekend. My guess is that ship sailed for us. Probably sailed for Illinois as well.

SunDevilSource is reporting Bobby Hurley just offered Andre Allen and they expect him to sign quickly, so probably take him off the list as well.

So he was at Pitt for a year under Stallings and Capel convinces him to stay. He ends up transferring mid-season to Nevada because he gets dropped from the rotation which means he would have been eligible mid-season this year.  Not sure when he'll be eligible if he transfers here.

Dude was listed at 230# freshman year, 245# sophomore year. Not sure if putting on the freshman 15 was the reason he lost playing time though he'd slot in as center for us.

40 inch vertical. 6-11 wingspan. Holy smokes.

6-11 wingspan and 40 inch vertical. At 6-6, Bonzie Colson played a lot at the 5 for Notre Dame because of his 6-11 wingspan and leaping ability. I like this.

Now that the Jayce Johnson ship sailed off to Milwaukee, I'd like to have the S.S. Shamiel Stevenson in Lincoln.

And with his coach moving on (again), there's been some precedent that Stevenson might be able to petition to gain immediate eligibility. He'd be a great fit, particularly if & when Roby stays in the NBA Draft.

OK, so assuming Roby is gone (which I think at this point is a very safe assumption) that would leave us with 5 spots to fill. If we want to fill them all, which we probably don't at this point.  But we have 2 guys who will be immediately-eligible seniors.  We have 2 committed 2020 recruits.  Whatever kind of big guy Hoiberg wants or needs, I sure wouldn't mind it if it was another grad transfer.  Let's get our own Tariq Owens who can swat some shots and spread the floor a little bit.

T.J. Holyfield would be the perfect use of one scholarship. Would be a senior front court player who can shoot it at a high clip and rebound it some.  Kinda doubt we are able to get him in for a visit but worth a try.

we might just end up having to take a dube type grad transfer so that we have some beef in the front court for big ten play at this point

Not a lot of movement from people, so I'm going to start making some guesses.  Starting with, if Jayce wanted to be here after his visit, he woulda committed then.

Looking back, I was pretty good at guessing.
